Selenite is usually sold as a wand or a tower, and both of those forms insist on a direction. A cube does not. Ten centimetres on every side, 1.1 kilograms, six flat faces — it sits wherever you put it and looks the same from all of them, which is a surprisingly rare quality in a crystal.

This one comes from Morocco. Selenite is a fibrous stone, so the grain runs visibly through the block and catches light along its length; turn the cube and a soft internal glow moves with it. It is also the stone most people keep near their other stones, which is exactly the job a flat-sided block is built for.

At a Glance

How to Use It

The flat top is the feature. Most people buy a selenite cube and then discover it is the most useful surface on the altar.

  1. Give it a permanent spot — selenite is not a stone you shuffle around.
  2. Rest smaller stones, rings or a bracelet on the top face overnight. This is the traditional reason people keep selenite in the first place.
  3. For meditation, set it at eye level with a candle behind and to one side so the grain lights up.
  4. Handle it with dry hands. Selenite is soft and water-soluble — it does not like moisture at all.
  5. Dust with a dry soft brush only. Never rinse it, never soak it.

Selenite Care at a Glance

Do Do Not
Dust with a dry brush Rinse or soak it — selenite dissolves
Keep it somewhere dry Leave it in a bathroom or on a damp sill
Handle with dry hands Scrub with cloth or abrasives
Use the flat face as a rest Store it loose with harder stones

✨ Temple Tip

Put it where the last light of the day reaches. Selenite is at its best in low, warm, angled light — under bright overhead lighting it just looks like a white block, but at dusk the whole grain lifts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the cube?

10 cm on each side, weighing 1.1 kg.

Where is it from?

Morocco.

Can I wash it?

No. Selenite is water-soluble — use a dry soft brush and keep it away from damp rooms.

Will mine look exactly like the photograph?

In differences lies beauty. Every piece is natural and hand-selected, so colour, pattern and size vary a little from the photograph.

Why do people rest other crystals on selenite?

It is the long-standing traditional use for the stone, and a flat-topped cube is the most practical form for it.

How quickly does it ship?

Ships within 3 business days, wrapped for protection.

Six faces, no argument. #TempleOfDesire

In short

The Selenite Standing Cube is a cut selenite block from Rare Earth Gallery, sourced from Morocco. It measures 10 cm on every side, weighs 1.1 kg and has six flat faces, so it stands or stacks in any orientation, and the fibrous grain of the stone runs visibly through the block. People use the flat top face as a resting platform for smaller stones, rings and bracelets, and as a meditation focus lit from the side so the grain catches light. It costs $61.95. Selenite is soft and water-soluble, so it is handled with dry hands, dusted with a dry brush, and kept away from moisture entirely.
