One stone, one chain, no negotiation. Goliath is an accurate name — the scale is the entire design decision, and every other choice in the piece follows from it.

A monumental natural striated crystal held by a substantial cable chain in an oxidized silver finish. Each stone carries a unique fractured, glacial clarity: veils and striations formed inside the quartz long before anyone thought to hang it from a neck.

At a glance

  • Monumental natural striated crystal quartz
  • Substantial cable chain — weight matched to the stone
  • Oxidized silver finish, nickel-free and hypoallergenic
  • Fractured, glacial clarity — unique to each stone
  • Handcrafted in small batches

How to use it

  • Wear it alone. A single stone at this scale cannot share a neckline with anything.
  • Dark ground, cold stone. Against black the quartz reads glacial; against pale skin or cream it reads soft.
  • High necklines work. This is one of the few pieces here that sits well over a collar rather than against skin.
  • Quartz is traditionally associated with clarity — a tradition of association, worn as such.
  • Store it flat and alone. The stone is harder than the finish on everything sharing its box.

Which silhouette sits where

Silhouette Sits at Wear it
Layering Choker 16–18.5″, adjustable As the shortest layer, closest to the throat
Chainmail Choker Choker length Alone — it is already the whole statement
Square Goliath Choker Choker length, single heavy stone Alone, or over a high neckline
Tennis Necklace Collarbone Under a choker, above a long chain
Slink Y-Chain Long, with a drop As the longest layer, over an open neckline
Gem Drop Toggle Long chain, single drop Alone, or as the anchor of a stack
Saber Tooth Necklace Collar to upper chest As the loudest piece in the stack
Obscura Stacking Shards Whisper-thin, layerable Multiplied — built for stacking

✨ Temple Tip — choose your Goliath by what it has to sit next to

The Square Goliath comes as both a choker and a ring. The choker is a single event at the throat and demands a plain outfit; the ring makes the same statement at a tenth of the visual volume and can be worn to work. If you want the stone but not the announcement, take the ring.

Questions we get asked

Are the crystals natural?
Natural striated crystal quartz. The striations, veils and internal fractures are formed features of the stone, which is why no two pieces are identical — the photograph shows the character, not the exact specimen.
How large is the stone?
The maker describes it as monumental and specifies no dimensions. We do not invent measurements — if exact sizing matters to you, ask before ordering.
Is it heavy?
The chain is substantial by design, matched to the stone. It has real presence at the throat rather than the weightlessness of a fine chain.
Can I layer it?
Not usefully. At this scale a second necklace competes rather than complements.
Will mine look like the photograph?
In character, yes. In exact pattern, no — striated quartz is never twice the same.

Care & wear: Store dry and away from direct light. Keep away from perfume, hairspray, chlorine and household cleaners — plating and oxidized finishes are surface treatments and will wear with contact. Clean with a soft dry cloth only. Nickel-free and hypoallergenic as supplied by the maker. An adornment and a ritual object — no outcome is promised. Stone and crystal associations described here are traditions of association, not claims of physical or psychological effect, and nothing here is medical advice.

The Square Goliath in Golden swaps this natural quartz for amber glass at the same scale. A word of warning on care: our guide to cleansing crystals is written for loose stones, and the water methods in it are exactly what a set stone on a silver chain cannot take. More in Necklaces & Malas.

In short

The Square Goliath Choker in Striated Crystal is a single-stone statement choker by mia vesper. One monumental natural striated crystal quartz hangs from a substantial cable chain in an oxidized silver finish, with the veils and internal fractures unique to each stone. It is worn alone at choker length, and unlike most pieces in the range it sits well over a collar rather than against bare skin. It costs $595 and the setting is nickel-free and hypoallergenic. Quartz is traditionally associated with clarity — an association worn as such — and the stone is harder than the finish on most jewelry, so it should be stored on its own.
