Chainmail was armor before it was jewelry, and it has never entirely stopped being armor. Worn at the throat — the one place on the body no one instinctively leaves exposed — the reference is not subtle and is not meant to be.
A woven chainmail choker punctuated with genuine opal, amethyst, tiger eye, black banded agate, pink chalcedony, black onyx and yellow glass, set in sterling silver. Seven stone types in one piece, which is more than most necklaces attempt in a season.
At a glance
- Woven chainmail in sterling silver
- Genuine opal, amethyst, tiger eye, black banded agate, pink chalcedony and black onyx, with yellow glass
- Nickel-free and hypoallergenic
- Set in sterling silver throughout
- Handcrafted in small batches
How to use it
- Wear it alone. This is not a layering piece — it is the entire upper half of an outfit.
- Give it a clear neckline. Woven metal against a collar loses every one of its stones.
- Protection is the traditional reading — onyx, tiger eye and agate all sit in that tradition, and the form does the rest.
- Lay it flat to store. Woven mail knots against itself if you hang or bundle it.
- Keep opal away from heat and solvents. It is the softest and most porous stone in the piece.
Which silhouette sits where
| Silhouette | Sits at | Wear it |
|---|---|---|
| Layering Choker | 16–18.5″, adjustable | As the shortest layer, closest to the throat |
| Chainmail Choker | Choker length | Alone — it is already the whole statement |
| Square Goliath Choker | Choker length, single heavy stone | Alone, or over a high neckline |
| Tennis Necklace | Collarbone | Under a choker, above a long chain |
| Slink Y-Chain | Long, with a drop | As the longest layer, over an open neckline |
| Gem Drop Toggle | Long chain, single drop | Alone, or as the anchor of a stack |
| Saber Tooth Necklace | Collar to upper chest | As the loudest piece in the stack |
| Obscura Stacking Shards | Whisper-thin, layerable | Multiplied — built for stacking |
✨ Temple Tip — the piece that decides what you are wearing
Most jewelry adapts to an outfit. This one does not — it sets the terms, and everything else in the room has to agree with it. That is a feature if you own three things you would wear it with, and a problem if you own none. Check that first.
Questions we get asked
Is the opal genuine?
Is it heavy?
Can I layer it?
How do I store it?
Is sterling silver safe for sensitive skin?
Care & wear: Store dry and away from direct light. Keep away from perfume, hairspray, chlorine and household cleaners — plating and oxidized finishes are surface treatments and will wear with contact. Clean with a soft dry cloth only. Nickel-free and hypoallergenic as supplied by the maker. An adornment and a ritual object — no outcome is promised. Stone and crystal associations described here are traditions of association, not claims of physical or psychological effect, and nothing here is medical advice.
The Chainmail Choker in Evil runs the same woven band in gold plate with black onyx and tiger eye. If you want the colorway loud instead of quiet, the Fang Layering Choker in Punk Rocks is the opposite decision. Both live in Necklaces & Malas.
Armor is only a metaphor until you put it on. #TempleOfDesire
