Some jewelry is designed. This was excavated. The stones in this choker were made in the 1960s, sat in dead stock for half a century, and were sourced and reassembled into something the original factory never intended — a collision of fragments rather than a matched set.
A glowing arrangement of galaxy black, shark grey, bruise purple, froth pink, molten orange and mothy lavender glass, held in an oxidized silver finish and handcrafted in Germany. It sits at 16–18.5 inches on an adjustable chain, which is choker length on most necks and just below on others.
At a glance
- 1960s dead-stock glass stones — sourced and reassembled, not reproduced
- Galaxy black, shark grey, bruise purple, froth pink, molten orange and mothy lavender
- Oxidized silver finish, nickel-free and hypoallergenic
- Handcrafted in Germany in small batches
- 16–18.5 inches, adjustable
How to use it
- Wear it as the shortest layer. At 16–18.5 inches it sits above almost everything else, which is where a choker earns its keep in a stack.
- Let it be the loud one. Six colors is already a full argument — pair it with plain chain rather than a second colorway.
- Against skin, not fabric. The oxidized finish reads darker against a bare throat and disappears against a black collar.
- Adjust before you decide. The 2.5 inches of range changes the piece completely; try both ends before you form an opinion.
- Take it off before anything wet. Oxidized silver is a surface finish — perfume, chlorine and cleaners strip it.
Which colorway is which
| Colorway | What it is | Mood |
|---|---|---|
| Punk Rocks | Galaxy black, shark grey, bruise purple, froth pink, molten orange and mothy lavender — or genuine tiger eye, onyx, amethyst and yellow glass, depending on the silhouette | Loud, bruised, maximal |
| Striated Crystal | Natural striated crystal quartz, veiled and fractured, never twice the same | Glacial, cold-lit, quiet |
| Green Envy | Faceted green glass shifting from emerald to lime to forest | Venomous, saturated |
| Golden | Golden yellow glass moving from honey to deep amber | Warm, lit-from-within |
| Angora | Genuine tiger eye, smoky quartz, labradorite, muted yellow and muted violet glass | Muted, earthen, tonal |
✨ Temple Tip — buy the colorway, not the silhouette
Across this collection the same silhouettes are cut in five colorways, and the colorway does far more work than the shape. If you already know you dress in muted earth tones, Angora will get worn and Punk Rocks will sit in a drawer no matter how much you like the outline of it.
Questions we get asked
What does “dead-stock” actually mean here?
Will every choker look identical?
Is it actually choker length?
Is it safe for sensitive ears and skin?
Can I layer it with the Paint Pot choker?
Care & wear: Store dry and away from direct light. Keep away from perfume, hairspray, chlorine and household cleaners — plating and oxidized finishes are surface treatments and will wear with contact. Clean with a soft dry cloth only. Nickel-free and hypoallergenic as supplied by the maker. An adornment and a ritual object — no outcome is promised. Stone and crystal associations described here are traditions of association, not claims of physical or psychological effect, and nothing here is medical advice.
The same fang choker in 18k gold finish is the warmer half of this pair. If six colors is more argument than you want at the throat, the woven Chainmail choker gives you the same colorway with far less noise. Both in Necklaces & Malas.
Six decades in a drawer, and it still wants to be looked at. #TempleOfDesire
