Collection: Bath & Body
Soap, soak and salt for the part of the day when you are already undressed and already alone. Cold-pressed bars, clay and charcoal cleansers, fruit-enzyme exfoliants and bath soaks blended for the evening wind-down.
In short: A bath is the easiest ritual to keep, because you were going to run the water anyway.

How to choose soap and soak
The core of this page is seven cleansers and one bath soak, plus a marble tray to keep them off the counter. Seven ritual sets and gift boxes also surface here; they belong to the evening around the bath rather than to the tub itself, and they get their own section below. For the wash, two decisions settle almost everything: what you want the bar to do, and whether you let it drain.
Seven cleansers, seven different jobs
Six of them are cold-processed 4.8 oz bars from a single maker, all at $9. Price is not the variable here; job is. Olive Oil & Lemongrass is the mild daily wash, built on Grade A extra virgin olive oil, with a lather that behaves more like a balm than a detergent. Mango & Papaya Enzyme exfoliates without grit — fruit enzymes loosen dead skin while you wash, which suits skin that reddens after scrubbing. Rose & Lavender Wildflower takes the botanical route, with real flowers ground by hand into the bar, and if you want to know why lavender keeps turning up in evening products, lavender’s meaning and uses covers it. Bamboo & Bentonite Mud is the maker's pick for combination, oily and acne-prone skin: activated bamboo charcoal with bentonite clay. Grapefruit & Tea Tree Clarifying is the full scrub, with ground oatmeal, peppermint leaves and Dead Sea salt. And the White Tea & Ginger Shave Bar is not a wash at all — it builds a dense lather that stays put so the razor glides, replacing a pressurized can rather than another bar.
The seventh belongs to a different tradition. RAW African Black Soap is handmade in Ghana, raw rather than cured, with a deliberately short list of certified organic ingredients, so every bar comes out slightly different from the last. At roughly 8 oz it is the long-haul bar of the group — $15 for one, $40 for the three-bar pack — and being raw it is softer in the hand than the six cold-processed ones. The full seven, with the per-ounce arithmetic, sit in Bar Soaps.
The soak, and the fact that you do not need a tub
One bath blend on this page: the Calm the F Down ritual bath soak, a 5 oz handmade blend built on mineral-rich Dead Sea and Epsom salt with dried lavender, chamomile and jasmine, $15.95 — sold out as this is written, so the product page is where to check for its return. Poured into warm running water it wants a minute to infuse before you get in. Without a bathtub it still works — as a shower scrub, or tied into a muslin bag under the showerhead, which is also the trick that keeps loose herbs out of the drain. If you want the older version of this — salt, water and intent used deliberately rather than decoratively — our magazine covers how to actually run a spiritual bath and which salt to use, and when it matters.
What decides how long any of it lasts
Drainage, more than size or price. A cold-processed bar left standing in a puddle softens and dissolves; the same bar on a ridged dish or a slatted rack stays hard between uses and lasts for weeks. Worth saying plainly: this shop does not currently sell a draining soap dish, and the black marble Tauro Tray on this page is a vanity tray, not a drainer — it is there to gather bottles, rings and folded towels, and it is the most expensive thing on the shelf at $173.95. Bring your own drainer. On value, the six cold-processed bars work out to $1.88 an ounce; the one real saving in the range is the three-bar pack of African black soap at $40 against $45 for three bought singly.
The ritual sets that share this shelf
Seven pieces here are not soap and not soak. They are the things people reach for on the same evening — before the bath, to clear the room, or after it, when the candle gets lit — and they are cheaper to understand as a sequence than as a list. For clearing first, the Energy Cleansing Gift Box at $81.95 is the maker's best-selling starter set, herbs and resins with a small cauldron to burn them in; the Sage Herbal Gift Box at $72.95 gives one herb in four burn formats, and the Herbal Incense Gift Box is the same idea in a choice of sage or lavender at $72.95, or both boxes for $144.95. What to burn instead of white sage is worth a read before you pick the sage version, and herbs for protection explains what the protection boxes are actually built on. For after the water, the Inner Eye Intuition Spell Kit at $15.95 is one blue chime candle, charoite and blue lotus with instructions (how to open your third eye is the long version); the Seven Knob Candle Spell Kit at $51.95 stretches one intention across a week, one knob a night, in a choice of ten colors (candle magic for beginners covers what else you need, which is very little). The two $20 herb-and-oil pairs from the same maker are named for goddesses: Demeter's Abundance Ritual Set, a basil, bay and clove blend with a money-magnet oil for the doorway and the wallet (how to make a money bowl is the practice it fits), and Aphrodite's Love Spell Kit, rose, lavender, marigold and cinnamon with an attraction oil — read love spells and consent first, because the honest version of that work starts with yourself. The full guides for these live in Gift Sets & Ritual Kits, Sacred Smoke & Cleansing and Candle Spell Kits.
Who this shelf is for, and what is not on it
It is for the part of the evening when you are already undressed and already alone — a wash you chose rather than one that came with the apartment. Seven daily self-care practices and an evening practice for the dark half of the year are the two magazine pieces that treat the bath as the ritual it can be. Everything here is a bar, a soak, a surface or a kit: there is no shampoo bar, no liquid body wash, no lotion and no fragrance-free option, since every bar names an aroma. For what goes on the skin after the water, see Body & Anointing Oils; for the rest of the wet room, Bathroom & Vanity; for the wind-down that follows, Evening Ritual. Nothing on this page treats a skin condition; if you have one, ask your dermatologist before you change what you wash with. The ritual sets are sold as spiritual curios for intention work; any effect beyond that is not scientifically established, and nothing here replaces medical, legal or financial advice.
Frequently asked questions
Is bar soap better than body wash?
For most people it is at least as good, and it lasts longer. A cold-processed bar keeps the glycerin formed while it saponifies instead of having it drawn off, which is why a cured bar tends to clean without the tight, squeaky finish of a mass-produced one. A bar also has no bottle. The honest caveat is that a bar shares a shelf: keep it dry and rinse it, and if you have very reactive skin, patch-test a new bar before you use it everywhere.
How long does a bar of soap actually last?
Weeks rather than days, and drainage decides it more than size does. A 4.8 oz cold-processed bar used daily and allowed to dry out between showers commonly runs about a month; the same bar sitting in standing water can be gone in a fraction of that. The raw African black soap is softer by nature, so many people cut the 8 oz bar into two or three pieces and keep the rest dry and wrapped.
What is African black soap used for?
It is one of the oldest continuously made cleansers in the world, traditionally used across West Africa as an everyday wash for face and body. The version here is handmade in Ghana using long-established regional methods, with minimal certified organic ingredients and nothing decorative, and the maker describes it as suitable for all skin types. It is raw rather than cured, so it is softer than a cold-processed bar and needs to be kept out of standing water.
Which bar should I pick for oily or for sensitive skin?
For oily, congested or acne-prone skin the Bamboo & Bentonite Mud Bar is the one built for it, with activated bamboo charcoal and bentonite clay. For skin that reacts badly to scrubbing, take the Mango & Papaya Enzyme Bar, which loosens dead skin without grit, or the Olive Oil & Lemongrass Bar if you want no exfoliation at all. Keep the Grapefruit & Tea Tree scrub bar to two or three times a week rather than daily.
Can I use the bath soak if I do not have a bathtub?
Yes. Use it as a shower scrub, or tie a spoonful into a muslin bag and hang it under the showerhead so the hot water runs through the salt and herbs. The bag is also the simplest way to keep petals and leaves out of the drain if you do have a tub. Rinse the tub afterwards; salt and oil left on the surface make it slippery.
Why are spell kits and gift boxes on a bath and body page?
Because the makers file them with the evening, not with the tub. A cleansing smoke box is what people burn before a ritual bath, and a candle kit is what they light after it, so they are shown here as the two ends of the same evening. They are not bath products: nothing in them goes in the water. Their full guides are on the Gift Sets, Sacred Smoke and Candle Spell Kits pages.
