Grabovoi Numbers: Where the Codes Really Come From
Grabovoi codes went from a Russian fringe teaching to a mainstream manifestation tool. Here is the documented origin, the court record, and what actually happens when you use one.
They show up on slips of paper in wallets, taped to water bottles, written on forearms in ballpoint pen: strings of digits that are supposed to move something. In a few short years Grabovoi numbers have gone from a Russian fringe teaching to one of the most shared manifestation tools on American social media. This piece covers where they came from, how people actually use them, and why the biography of the man behind them belongs in the story rather than in a footnote.

Grabovoi numbers are digit sequences of usually seven to eleven places, each assigned to a subject - money, work, housing, relationships, health. According to the teaching of the Russian Grigori Grabovoi (born 1963), every thing has a counterpart in the number realm; writing or repeating the sequence is said to line you up with the state you meant. Unlike numerology, the assignments are not derived but simply asserted - there is no traceable derivation. Part of the origin: on 7 July 2008 Grabovoi was convicted in Moscow of large-scale fraud in eleven counts and sentenced to eleven years, after offering relatives of the Beslan victims, for payment, the prospect of reviving their children. The 2016 decision of the European Court of Human Rights concerned only the excessive length of pre-trial detention, not the fraud charge. The limit: no effect of the numbers on the outside world is demonstrated, and no code replaces medical treatment.

Writing a concern down aims attention, changes behavior and lowers tension - these effects arise in the user, not in the digit sequence.

What Grabovoi numbers are supposed to be
The idea is quick to tell. Every thing, every state, every event is said to have a counterpart in the number realm — something like an address. Know the address, say it, write it, look at it, and you supposedly line yourself up with the state you meant and pull it into reality.
In practice these are sequences of seven to eleven digits, each assigned to a subject: money, work, an apartment, a relationship, sleep, health. You write one on a slip and carry it. You tape it to a water bottle. You trace it in the air with a finger. You repeat it as you fall asleep.
That will sound familiar if you have spent time with frequency teachings, and the resemblance is not a coincidence. A number here does not stand for a quantity. It stands for a vibration, and the vibration is supposed to act on matter.
This is a real break from classical numerology. Numerology interprets: what does a six in your birth date mean? Codes are not interpreted, they are applied. The number is not a sign, it is a tool. That also separates them from angel numbers, which are found and read — an 11:11 on a clock gets noticed. A code gets used.
Who Grigori Grabovoi is
The numbers carry the name of a living man, and that man has a documented history. It belongs here, even though it is uncomfortable.
Grigori Petrovich Grabovoi was born in 1963 in the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic and appeared in Russia in the 1990s as a clairvoyant and healer. Among other things, he claimed he could detect and repair technical faults remotely. Out of that milieu grew a teaching of his own, with writings, seminars and centers — a system promising rescue, restoration and „harmonious development“.
Part of that promise is the claim on which everything else turns: the resurrection of the dead.
Beslan, the trial, and the verdict
In September 2004 more than three hundred people died in the school siege in Beslan, North Ossetia, many of them children. In the months that followed, Grabovoi approached relatives of the victims. It was reported that he offered mothers, for payment, the prospect of bringing their killed children back.
He was arrested in 2006. On 7 July 2008 the Tagansky District Court in Moscow convicted him of large-scale fraud in eleven counts and sentenced him to eleven years. He was released early in 2010. He lives in Serbia today and continues to spread the teaching from there.
There is a second ruling that circulates online as a rehabilitation, and precision pays off here. On 22 September 2016 the European Court of Human Rights decided, in Grabovoy and Others v. Russia, that his excessively long pre-trial detention — roughly two years and three months before trial — had violated his rights, and awarded him 2,400 euros in compensation.
That is exactly what it is and nothing more. The Court examined the length of detention before trial, not the fraud charges. It was not an acquittal, not a reversal of the conviction, and not a statement about the teaching. Anyone presenting that decision as vindication either has not read it or is counting on the fact that you will not.
Why that matters for the numbers themselves
You could object: does a tool have to be bad because its inventor was convicted? Fair question. An idea does not become wrong because an unpleasant person had it.
Only the situation here is different. The codes are not a by-product. They are part of a system whose central promise is the restoration of everything — health, property, relationships, and expressly life itself. That promise was the subject of the criminal case. You cannot separate the numbers from the claim they were introduced with without quietly changing the claim.
On top of that, there is no independent source for the assignments. No system, no derivation, no check. Why one particular string should stand for prosperity and another for sleep cannot be traced. It is authority and nothing else. If you are going to take on a practice, it is worth knowing what it rests on.
Why we do not print a list of codes
We know that many people are looking for exactly that: a list, sorted by subject. We are not printing one.
The reason is not money or apartments. It is health. The lists in circulation include codes against diagnoses — against tumors, against diabetes, against depression. Publishing those would mean recommending them, and we do not. There is no evidence that a string of digits acts on an illness. And the harm does not come from the number. It comes from what somebody postpones because of it.
If something is weighing on you physically or mentally, that belongs with a clinician. Everything else — a slip of paper, a candle, a number, a ritual — can sit alongside it. Not in front of it.
As for money, work or housing: a slip in your wallet does no damage there. It just does not replace an application, a phone call, or a spreadsheet. That gap is the real problem with this whole genre.
What actually happens when you use a code
Something does happen, and it is not nothing — it simply works differently than the teaching says.
Writing a number down forces you to name a concern. Whoever writes the code for „new apartment“ has decided, in that moment, that apartment hunting is now a subject. That sounds banal and is not: a diffuse unease becomes a formulation.
After that the slip in your wallet works as a reminder anchor. Every time it surfaces, the subject comes back. Attention gets aimed, and aimed attention changes behavior — you check listings more often, you bring it up, you say yes more readily.
Then there is the gain in calm. Doing something when you can do nothing lowers tension. That is a real, well described effect and the most honest reason practices like this persist.
Which means saying the obvious out loud: the effect arises in you, not in the digits. You will meet the same figure of thought in law of assumption teaching — a method that borrows its explanation from somewhere impressive and gets its results from the person applying it.
If repetition and a settled mind are the working parts, it is worth noticing that you can get those without a claim attached. Our Animal Mandala Coloring Book at $15.95 is a hundred pages of exactly that: a repetitive, absorbing thing to do with your hands for twenty minutes. We are not saying it manifests anything. That is rather the point — it is the same mechanism with the marketing removed.
If you want to work with them anyway
That is your call, and it is a legitimate one. A few conditions make the difference between a practice and an excuse.
- Write the sentence out next to every number. A bare string of digits is not an intention. „I want a two-bedroom on the north side by November“ is one. The number may stand beside it — the sentence carries it.
- Write down what you are doing this week. A phone call, an application, a conversation. A code without an action is a ticket in a waiting room.
- Keep a record. Date, concern, what you did, what happened. Without notes you will only remember the hits later. That is not a personal weakness; every head works that way.
- Leave health out of it. This one rule is not negotiable.
How to handle the sellers
A practical filter, since this is where money changes hands. Check every source that sells you this. Anyone charging for code lists while leaving out the 2008 conviction has made a decision about what you should know. That is a signal in itself.
The same goes for the confident framing. „Ancient knowledge“ is a claim about age, and this teaching is from the 1990s. „Scientifically proven“ is a claim about evidence, and there is none. Neither of those is a small exaggeration; both are the load-bearing wall of the sales page.
Frequently asked questions
What are Grabovoi numbers?
Sequences of usually seven to eleven digits, each assigned to a subject — money, work, housing, relationships, health. According to the teaching every thing has a counterpart in the number realm; writing, viewing or repeating the sequence is said to line you up with the state you meant. They are named after Grigori Grabovoi.
Who is Grigori Grabovoi?
A Russian teacher and author born in 1963 in the Kazakh SSR, who appeared in the 1990s as a clairvoyant and healer. On 7 July 2008 the Tagansky District Court in Moscow convicted him of large-scale fraud in eleven counts and sentenced him to eleven years; he was released early in 2010. He lives in Serbia today.
Did the European Court of Human Rights acquit Grabovoi?
No. On 22 September 2016 the Court decided in Grabovoy and Others v. Russia that his excessively long pre-trial detention violated his rights and awarded him 2,400 euros. What was examined was the length of detention before trial, not the fraud charge. The 2008 conviction stood.
Do the numbers work?
There is no evidence for it. No study shows that a string of digits changes a state in the outside world. What can be described are effects in the user: a concern gets named, attention aims at it, behavior changes, tension drops. That effect arises in you, not in the number.
Why do you not publish a list of codes?
Because the lists in circulation include codes against diagnoses — tumors, diabetes, depression. Printing those would mean recommending them. There is no evidence of any effect, and the harm does not come from the number but from what somebody postpones because of it.
What is the difference from numerology and angel numbers?
Numerology interprets: it derives numbers from a birth date and a name, and every step can be recalculated. Angel numbers are found and read — an 11:11 on a clock is taken as a hint. Grabovoi numbers are supposed to act rather than mean, and their assignments are not derived but simply asserted.
What we do not promise
- That Grabovoi numbers work. There is no study showing a string of digits changes a state in the outside world.
- That they heal. No code replaces a diagnosis, a medication or a therapy. Postponing treatment because of a number risks something real against something unevidenced.
- That the 2016 European Court of Human Rights decision was a rehabilitation. It concerned the length of pre-trial detention. The 2008 fraud conviction was untouched by it.
- That it does not matter where a method comes from. With a teaching whose central promise was the resurrection of the dead, and whose author was convicted over it, the origin is part of the subject.
