At a glance
-
4-inch bundle of dragon blood sage with lavender
-
Dragon blood as activator, lavender as the calming counterweight
-
Traditionally burned before shadow work and inner journeys
-
Farm-grown sage from Mexico, never wild-harvested from native land
-
Reusable across many sessions when extinguished properly and stored dry
How to use it
-
Light the end with the fewest stems — not the leafy end — let it flame, then blow it out so it smolders.
-
Hold it over a heat-proof dish the whole time. An abalone or lion's paw shell is traditional; any ceramic bowl works.
-
Waft the smoke through the space, using a feather if you have one, or set the bundle down on the dish and let it work.
-
To cleanse stones and jewelry, hold them steadily in the smoke until it flows in a straight stream upward after circling the piece.
-
Extinguish it completely by pressing the lit end into the dish, then store it dry. One bundle lasts many sessions.

✨ Temple Tip — this is the one you burn before, not during
Dragon blood amplifies; lavender settles. Together they are a doorway, not a companion. Light this bundle, let the room take it, put it out fully — and then begin the work in the quiet that follows. Sitting in active smoke while doing shadow work is how people end up with a headache instead of an insight.
Questions we get asked
What is dragon blood sage?
Sage combined with dragon blood, which is traditionally regarded as an activator that powers up whatever it interacts with.
Why lavender?
Lavender relaxes, which balances the activating quality of dragon blood — the combination is favored for sacred journeys.
When would I burn it?
Before internal work, or before exploring the shadow side.
Where does the sage come from?
A farm in Mexico. White sage should never be harvested from national parks or native land.
Is it safe around pets or asthma?
We would not burn it around birds, asthma, or small children. Smoke is a respiratory irritant.
Care & safety: Never leave a smoldering bundle unattended, and make sure it is completely out before you leave the area. Burn over a heat-proof dish and carry the dish with you. Keep out of reach of children and animals and away from anything flammable. Ventilate during and after — smoke is a respiratory irritant regardless of what is burning, and it is not suitable around asthma, small children, or birds. A ritual tool, not a medical or healthcare product; no health claim is made. We recommend consulting a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medication.
