At a glance
- Hand-carved white marble, no two pieces identical in veining
- Moon phase design inlaid in brass
- Two holes for standard incense sticks
- Heavy enough to stay put, flat enough to catch ash
- Indoor or sheltered outdoor use
How to use it
Set the holder on a level surface away from curtains, paper and anything that moves in a draft. Push the stick into one of the holes until it sits firm, light the tip, let the flame catch for a few seconds, then blow it out so the ember glows. Stay in the room while it burns. Let the marble cool before you wipe it - a dry cloth is enough; ash lifts off stone without water.
Temple Tip
Burn one stick, not two, when you are working with intention. Two sticks fill a room twice as fast and you lose the slow build that makes the practice worth doing.
Questions people ask
Does the marble stain?
Marble is porous, so oily resins can leave a mark over time. Wipe ash off dry after each burn and the surface stays clean. Avoid soaking it.
Will it hold thick incense sticks?
The holes take standard sticks. Very thick masala sticks may need a gentle turn to seat properly - do not force them, the marble will not give.
Can I use it outside?
Under cover, yes. Left in rain and frost, marble weathers and brass tarnishes, so bring it in.
Is each piece the same?
No. The stone is cut and carved by hand, so veining and the exact tone of the white vary from piece to piece. That is the point of buying carved stone rather than molded resin.
