In Japan, lion's mane is called yamabushitake, after the yamabushi — a sect of Buddhist mountain ascetics who wore long strands of fur around their necks that the mushroom was said to resemble. It is one of the more literal names in mycology and one of the more evocative.
Ora's lion's mane is organically cultivated in its preferred substrate with no starch, grains or fillers, 1:1 water extracted, grown outdoors in hoop houses, and triple tested before packing. At 600 mg of beta glucans per serving it sits at the top of the single-species range alongside reishi.

How to use it
Stir a 2 g serving into hot water, coffee, or — our preference — a cup of ceremonial cacao. The extract dissolves readily and does not need to be brewed.
Keep it in the same place as whatever you already drink every morning. An extract you have to hunt for is an extract you stop using by week three.
The pack holds 31 servings, which is a month at one serving a day. That is deliberate: it is designed as a daily habit rather than an occasional experiment.
If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a health condition, speak to your doctor before adding any mushroom extract to your routine.

✨ Temple Tip
Lion's mane is the mildest tasting of the range, which makes it the one to start with if you have tried mushroom extracts before and disliked the flavour. In cacao it more or less disappears.
Frequently asked questions
Why is it called yamabushitake?
After the yamabushi, a sect of Buddhist monks in Japan who wore long strands of fur around their necks resembling the mushroom's cascading spines.
How much beta glucan does it contain?
600 mg per 2 g serving.
What does 1:1 water extracted mean?
One part mushroom to one part finished extract, drawn with water rather than alcohol. Water extraction is the traditional method for making the compounds in mushrooms available in a drink.
Why does growing outdoors matter?
Ora grows in hoop houses rather than laboratory conditions, in the substrates each species naturally prefers, with no starch, grains or fillers added to bulk out the powder.
How many servings are in a pack?
31 servings at 2 g each — roughly one month of daily use.
