The luna moth lives about a week and has no mouth. It emerges, it finds a mate, it dies — the entire adult life is a single errand. Folklore across several traditions reads it as a symbol of transformation and of the brevity that makes transformation urgent.
Running with the collection's theme of folk art and folklore, this iridescent enamel ear cuff is set with glass crystals and genuine onyx: part ornament, part talisman. No piercing required — the ring is meant to be put on at the upper ear and slid down into place. Gold plated and handcrafted in India.
At a glance
- Iridescent enamel luna moth charm
- Set with glass crystals and genuine onyx
- No piercing required — slides into position on the upper ear
- Gold plate, nickel-free and hypoallergenic
- Handcrafted in India in small batches
How to use it
- Put it on at the top of the ear and slide it down. Do not try to open it into place — the fit comes from the slide, not from bending.
- Wear it on the ear you show. If you part your hair to one side, the cuff belongs on the other.
- Pair it with a bare lobe or one small stud. An ear cuff is already the composition.
- Onyx is traditionally associated with protection and the luna moth with transformation — traditions of association, worn as such.
- Take it off before you sleep. Cuffs bend under a pillow, and a bent cuff never fits the same again.
Which piece for which ear
| If you have | Wear | Because |
|---|---|---|
| No piercings | The Luna Moth ear cuff alone | It requires none — it slides on |
| One lobe piercing | Cuff on the upper ear, small stud below | Two points of interest, one scale each |
| Multiple piercings | Cuff on the opposite ear | Balance across the head rather than a pile on one side |
| Sensitive ears | The cuff — it never pierces skin | Nickel-free gold plate, no contact with a wound channel |
✨ Temple Tip — an ear cuff is the piece to buy someone else
It requires no piercing, no ring size, no chain length and no measurement of any kind. Of everything in this collection it is the only piece that cannot arrive in the wrong size, which makes it the safe answer when you are buying for a person whose jewelry you have never had to guess at before.
Questions we get asked
Do I need a piercing?
Will it stay on?
Is the onyx genuine?
Can I open it to widen the fit?
How durable is the enamel?
Care & wear: Store dry and away from direct light. Keep away from perfume, hairspray, chlorine and household cleaners — plating and oxidized finishes are surface treatments and will wear with contact. Clean with a soft dry cloth only. Nickel-free and hypoallergenic as supplied by the maker. An adornment and a ritual object — no outcome is promised. Stone and crystal associations described here are traditions of association, not claims of physical or psychological effect, and nothing here is medical advice.
The oxidized silver moth is the darker, more nocturnal read of the same cuff. If you prefer folk-art spots to wings, there is a Leopard enamel ear cuff built the same way — no piercing needed. Both in Rings & Earrings.
A week of life, and it spends all of it in flight. #TempleOfDesire
