✨ Temple Tip — hold it to the light to find the tiger's eye
The banding in tiger iron is easiest to read under a direct light source held at an angle. Tilt the stone slowly and the tiger's eye layers throw a moving golden sheen — chatoyancy, the same optical effect that gives cat's eye gems their name — while the hematite stays flatly metallic and the jasper stays matte red. It is the quickest way to see all three minerals at once.
Questions we get asked
What is tiger iron made of?
It is a natural combination of tiger's eye, hematite and red jasper banded together in one stone.
How big is it?
Between 20 and 30 millimeters.
Where does it come from?
Africa.
Will the banding look like the photographs?
Similar, but not identical. The proportion and pattern of the three minerals varies from piece to piece, which is the appeal of the stone.
Will I receive the exact stone pictured?
No. You will receive one stone, hand-selected by one of our Crystal Caretakers, similar in size and character to those photographed but naturally unique to itself.
A ritual object, not a remedy: The associations described here are traditions of association, not claims of physical or psychological effect, and nothing here is medical advice. Natural stone is never identical twice — color, pattern, veining and exact size vary from piece to piece, and you will receive one stone chosen for you rather than the exact stone photographed. Keep small stones away from young children and pets. Ships within 3 business days.
