In short
The Blue Indicolite Tourmaline on Matrix is a mineral specimen by Rare Earth Gallery from Nuristan, Afghanistan, with the blue tourmaline crystal still attached to its host rock of quartz and muscovite mica. It measures 5 x 4 x 3 inches and weighs 746 grams. On-matrix specimens are valued above loose crystals because the association shows where and alongside what the crystal grew, and few survive extraction intact. It costs $919.95 for the specimen alone, and it is displayed at eye level with side lighting to separate the three minerals. It is handled by the matrix rather than by the crystal, and it cannot be cleaned with water because muscovite flakes lift and do not lie back down.
