Scent: chocolate — dry and dark rather than sweet
-
Fruit biomass base rather than a charcoal one

-
About 60 minutes per stick — extinguish and relight for multiple sessions from one stick

How to use it
-
Set the intention before you light it, not after. Warmth and heart-opening are the qualities the maker names.
- Heat-proof holder, stable surface, ventilated room.
-
Eat a square of dark chocolate while it burns. Two senses on the same material is the whole idea.
-
Fifteen minutes. Extinguish in sand and keep the rest of the stick.
-
Finish with gratitude — or simply a moment of quiet before you stand up.
✨ Temple Tip — pair the smoke with the taste
Scent and taste run through the same channel, and cacao is the rare ritual material you can have on both at once. A square of high-percentage dark chocolate held on the tongue while the incense burns produces something noticeably stronger than either alone. Cheap milk chocolate ruins it — the sugar flattens everything.
Questions we get asked
Does it smell sweet?
Not particularly. It is closer to raw cacao — dry, dark and warm — than to confectionery.
What is a fruit biomass base?
The maker uses fruit biomass in place of most of the charcoal a conventional stick is built on, reducing the charcoal load considerably.
How long does one stick burn?
About 60 minutes, and it is designed to be extinguished and relit.
Can I put one out and relight it?
Yes — that is how the maker intends them to be used. Press the lit end gently into sand or a heat-proof dish, let it cool, and relight when you next sit down.
Do I need a holder?
Yes. Use a heat-proof holder or ash catcher on a stable, non-flammable surface, in a ventilated room, and never leave a burning stick unattended.
Burn safely: Always burn in a heat-proof holder on a stable, non-flammable surface, in a well-ventilated room. Never leave a burning stick, bomb or disk unattended. Keep away from children, pets, curtains and anything that catches. Smoke-cleansing products give off a lot of smoke — start away from smoke detectors. Store dry and out of direct sun. A ritual object, not a remedy: traditional associations described here are traditions of association, not claims of physical or psychological effect, and nothing here is medical advice.
