Chevron amethyst is amethyst that grew in alternating layers with white quartz, and when it is cut into a sphere those layers wrap the surface in V-shaped bands that seem to move as you turn it. Plain amethyst is beautiful. Chevron amethyst is legible — you can read the growth of the stone directly off its face.

These are polished spheres from Brazil in assorted sizes, from around 385 grams up to nearly two kilograms. The larger ones hold a table on their own; the smaller sit comfortably in two palms and hold their cool for a long time.

At a Glance

  • Polished chevron amethyst sphere
  • V-shaped purple and white banding across the surface
  • Assorted sizes, roughly 385 g to 1.9 kg
  • From Brazil
  • Every sphere is banded differently
  • Rests on any flat surface — no stand required

How to Use It

A banded sphere gives your eyes a track to follow, which makes it one of the easier stones to actually meditate with.

  1. Choose your size honestly: pick the one you will pick up, not the one that photographs best.
  2. Hold it in both palms and let it warm. Amethyst starts cold and takes a few minutes.
  3. Turn it slowly and follow a single chevron band all the way around until it returns to where it started.
  4. Notice that you stopped thinking about anything else somewhere in the middle. That is the whole exercise.
  5. Set it down, and dust the polish with a soft dry cloth when needed.

Choosing Your Size

If you want… Reach for…
A table centrepiece The largest size, close to 1.9 kg
A sphere to hold and turn A mid-size at roughly 465 g
Something for a small altar The smallest, around 385 g
A gift Any size — the banding does the work

✨ Temple Tip

Turn it under a lamp before you settle on which way up it sits. Chevron banding almost always has one orientation where the V-shapes line up into a clean spiral, and it is worth the two minutes to find it.
