Frankincense and myrrh are the oldest clearing pair in continuous use, and they have not stayed in rotation for four thousand years because of the marketing.

Hand-rolled onto a fruit-biomass base. The maker's ritual is a moving one rather than a seated one: ignite the stick and wave it softly through the air around your body and your space, inviting it to clear and revitalize what surrounds you. Envision the rising smoke sweeping away heaviness, and close by offering a moment of gratitude.

At a glance

  • Scent: frankincense & myrrh — resinous, dry, faintly bitter
  • For clearing the air around you and resetting your own state
  • Approximately 60 minutes per stick — extinguish and relight for multiple burns
  • Fruit-biomass base instead of charcoal
  • Handmade, hand-rolled, and hand-packaged

How to use it

  • Light it and let the flame settle to an ember before you start moving.
  • Wave it softly through the air around your body and through the space, rather than holding it still.
  • Picture the smoke sweeping away heaviness and leaving light and renewal behind it.
  • Move through the whole room, not just the middle of it — corners, thresholds, and behind doors.
  • Close with gratitude and carry the clarity forward rather than leaving it in the room.

✨ Temple Tip — move it, do not park it

The difference between clearing work and simply scenting a room is movement. A stick left in a holder perfumes the space; a stick carried deliberately through it is doing something you are participating in. Keep a heat-proof dish underneath while you walk — falling ash is the practical failure mode here.

Questions we get asked

How is this different from Purification?
Energetic Cleanse is worked around the body and the immediate air; Purification is worked on the space itself. Used in sequence, cleanse first and purify after.
Is frankincense and myrrh a strong scent?
It is resinous and dry rather than sweet, and it lingers longer than the floral blends in the line. In a small room, half a stick is often enough.
How long does one stick burn?
Approximately 60 minutes. The sticks are designed to be extinguished and relit, so a single stick can carry several shorter sittings.
What makes this incense different?
It uses a fruit-biomass base rather than the charcoal base most incense is built on — an upcycling choice that reduces the charcoal in the product.
Is it hand-made?
Yes. Handmade, hand-rolled, and hand-packaged.
Do I need a special holder?
You need a heat-proof holder that catches ash and holds the stick steady. Anything that can tip or scorch is not suitable.

Care & safety: Burn in a heat-proof holder on a stable, non-flammable surface, within sight, away from drafts, curtains, and anything that can catch. Never leave burning incense unattended or within reach of children or pets. Ventilate the room during and after burning. Extinguish fully before leaving. California Proposition 65 warning: burning incense produces smoke and combustion by-products, including chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm. A ritual tool — no outcome is promised, and nothing here is medical, legal, or financial advice.

Where this sits: on our Incense Sticks & Cones shelf inside Sacred Smoke & Cleansing. For the order that actually works, read how to cleanse a room — smoke, spray, and the order that works.

Move it through the room. Then open a window. #TempleOfDesire

In short

Energetic Cleanse Ritual Incense is a hand-rolled stick from Sacred Scents Sanctuary scented with frankincense and myrrh - resinous, dry, and faintly bitter. It is rolled onto a fruit-biomass base rather than charcoal, handmade and hand-packaged, and burns for around 60 minutes with the option to extinguish and relight. The maker's ritual is a moving one: the lit stick is waved softly through the air around the body and through the room, including corners and thresholds, rather than left standing in a holder. It costs $15. Frankincense and myrrh are among the oldest clearing pairs in continuous use, and this is one of six blends in the Ritual Incense line.
