Kansa is the Indian bronze alloy used for ritual and table vessels for centuries. This platter is cast in it by hand, using techniques that have not needed improving.

The weight is the first thing you notice — it sits where you put it. Use it for serving, or as the base layer of an altar where candles and stones need something solid underneath them.

At a glance

  • Hand-cast bronze in the traditional kansa alloy
  • Substantial weight, sits flat and stays put
  • Serving platter or altar base
  • Made by Fleck using generational techniques
  • Patina deepens with use and can be polished back

How to use it

For serving, use it for dry foods — bread, fruit, cheese. Keep acidic foods in a small dish on top rather than directly on the metal.

Wash by hand and dry immediately. Bronze will darken over time; polish it back with a soft cloth and a little tamarind or a proprietary bronze polish if you prefer it bright.

✨ Temple Tip

On an altar, metal grounds a composition that has gone too soft. If your candles, cloth and stones are all matte and pale, a bronze base gives the eye somewhere to land.

Questions we get asked

Is it food-safe?

Yes, kansa bronze has been used for tableware for centuries. Keep highly acidic foods in a separate dish and dry the platter after washing.

Will it tarnish?

It develops a patina, which many people prefer. Polish it back whenever you like.

Can it go in the dishwasher?

No. Hand wash and dry immediately.

How heavy is it?

Substantially — cast bronze, not plate. That weight is what makes it feel like an heirloom.

Cast to be handed down, not replaced. #TempleOfDesire

In short

The Luxe Kansa Platter is a hand-cast serving tray made by Fleck from kansa, the Indian bronze alloy long used for ritual and table vessels. It is cast rather than plated, giving it substantial weight, and is used as a serving platter for dry foods such as bread, fruit and cheese, or as a solid base layer on an altar under candles and stones. It costs $169.95. The bronze develops a patina with use and can be polished back with a soft cloth. It is hand wash only, and acidic foods are better kept in a separate dish on top rather than placed directly on the metal.
