The holder is the part nobody plans for and everybody eventually needs. Nine inches of painted ceramic that catches every flake of ash before it reaches the table — which, if you have ever tried to lift grey ash out of a pale rug, is not a small thing.
Each tray is handpainted, which means the piece that arrives is genuinely its own. Six motifs to choose from, all sized for standard incense sticks, and all designed to be left out between burns rather than put away.
At a glance
- Handpainted ceramic — every tray slightly its own
- 9-inch tray sized for clean ash collection
- Six motifs: mushroom, dragonfly, tree of life, plum blossom, blue wave, mandala
- Fits standard incense sticks
- Doubles as a shelf object — made to stay out, not to be stored
How to use it
- Angle the stick so the ember sits over the tray, not past the end of it. Most ash escapes because the stick was leaning off the edge.
- Place it on a stable, non-flammable surface and never leave a burning stick unattended.
- Let the ash cool completely before you tip it out.
- Wipe with a soft damp cloth when cool. Handpainted glaze does not belong in a dishwasher.
- Match motif to room, not to incense. The tray is out every day; the stick changes.
Choosing your motif
| Motif | Reads as |
|---|---|
| Mushroom | Whimsical and nature-led — grounding charm |
| Dragonfly | Transformation and serenity — good for reflective practice |
| Tree of Life | Growth, balance and connection |
| Plum Blossom | Delicate and resilient — renewal |
| Blue Wave | Flowing and tranquil — the rhythm of water |
| Mandala | Intricate and spiritual — harmony and focus |
✨ Temple Tip — buy the tray before you need it
Almost everyone buys incense first and a holder three burns later, after finding ash on a windowsill. A nine-inch tray catches the whole length of a stick, which a small pinch-style holder does not — the difference shows up on pale surfaces immediately.
Questions we get asked
Which sticks does it fit?
Can I choose the motif?
Are they identical to the photos?
How do I clean it?
Does it come with incense?
Care: Wipe clean with a soft damp cloth once cool — handpainted surfaces do not belong in a dishwasher. Let ash cool completely before emptying. Always place the holder on a stable, non-flammable surface and never leave burning incense unattended. Motif designs are painted by hand, so no two are identical.
Ash belongs on the tray, not the table. #TempleOfDesire
