A crystal skull is not subtle, and it is not supposed to be. This one is carved from purple fluorite — banded violet running into clear, the colour shifting depending on which way you turn it — and it measures 2.75 by 2 by 2 inches, sitting at 200 to 225 grams. Small enough for a desk. Emphatic enough to change what the desk is about.

Fluorite carves beautifully because it is a soft, layered stone, which is why the banding follows the shape of the face instead of fighting it. It comes from Brazil and every piece is cut from a different section of rough, so the placement of the violet is never the same twice.

How to Use It

A skull is a memento mori before it is anything else — an object that reminds you time is finite. That gives it a very practical use.

  1. Put it where you make decisions: the desk, the workbench, the corner of the studio.
  2. When you catch yourself stalling, pick it up. It is cool and heavier than it looks, and that alone interrupts the loop.
  3. Ask the only question a skull ever asks: is this what the hours are for?
  4. Answer honestly, put it back facing you, and act on the answer.
  5. Dust with a dry soft brush. Fluorite is soft — skip abrasive cloths and harsh cleaners.

Where It Works

Setting Why
Desk A daily, wordless prompt to get on with it
Altar A traditional focus for ancestor and shadow work
Bookshelf Reads as sculpture between the spines
Studio Good company for anything that needs finishing

✨ Temple Tip

Fluorite ranks around 4 on the hardness scale — softer than a steel key. Give it its own spot rather than a drawer full of other stones, and it will keep the carved detail sharp for decades.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is it?

2.75 x 2 x 2 inches, weighing 200–225 g.

Brazil.

Will mine look exactly like the photograph?

In differences lies beauty. Every piece is natural and hand-selected, so colour, pattern and size vary a little from the photograph.
