Pink shot through with black. Rhodonite is one of the more visually dramatic tumbled stones — a manganese silicate whose rose-pink body is cut across by dark veining, so no two pieces carry the same pattern.

In metaphysical tradition it is celebrated as the Stone of Compassion, symbolizing love, forgiveness and emotional balance. It is linked with the heart chakra and cherished as a companion for nurturing the heart, encouraging harmony in relationships, and supporting self-acceptance.

At a glance

  • Vivid pink with dramatic black veining — no two alike
  • A manganese silicate mineral, tumbled and polished
  • Found in Russia, Brazil and the United States
  • Linked with the heart chakra in traditional practice
  • Known as the Stone of Compassion — love, forgiveness, emotional balance

How to use it

  • Carry it in a pocket where your hand naturally finds it during the day.
  • Reach for it deliberately rather than leaving it to work in the background — the contact is the point.
  • Rest it on your altar or in a bowl on the days you do not feel called to carry it.
  • Rinse it under cool water and dry it properly when it has been handled a lot.
  • Pass it on when you stop reaching for it. Forgetting it in a drawer is usually the signal.

✨ Temple Tip — the black veining is the mineral, not a flaw

New collectors sometimes look for the ‘cleanest’ rhodonite, meaning the most uniformly pink. It is worth resisting. The black veining is manganese oxide, formed in the stone as it grew, and pieces with bold contrast are more characteristic of the mineral — and far more interesting to look at — than an evenly colored one.

Questions we get asked

Why is it called the Stone of Compassion?
In metaphysical tradition rhodonite symbolizes love, forgiveness and emotional balance, which is where the name comes from.
What is the black marking in the stone?
Natural veining that forms as part of the mineral. It is characteristic of rhodonite rather than a defect.
What kind of mineral is rhodonite?
A manganese silicate.
Where is it found?
Regions including Russia, Brazil and the United States.
Will I receive the exact stone pictured?
No. You will receive one stone, hand-selected by one of our Crystal Caretakers, similar in size and character to those photographed but naturally unique to itself.

A ritual object, not a remedy: The associations described here are traditions of association, not claims of physical or psychological effect, and nothing here is medical advice. Natural stone is never identical twice — color, pattern, veining and exact size vary from piece to piece, and you will receive one stone chosen for you rather than the exact stone photographed. Keep small stones away from young children and pets. Ships within 3 business days.

In short

Rhodonite is a manganese silicate mineral, and this Sacred Crystals version is a tumbled and polished pocket stone with a rose-pink body cut across by dark black veining. The material is found in Russia, Brazil and the United States. In metaphysical tradition rhodonite is called the Stone of Compassion, linked with the heart chakra and associated with forgiveness, emotional balance and self-acceptance; it is carried in a pocket or kept where it will be handled. One stone costs $8.95. The black veining is part of the mineral rather than a flaw, and its pattern and density differ on every piece.
