Selenite is the stone people reach for first and keep reaching for. It is soft, it is luminous, and a small obelisk like this one catches light along its length in a way that makes a shelf feel considered rather than cluttered.

This is the small size — around 3 to 6 cm, 95 grams, from Morocco. Small enough to travel in a bag pocket, tall enough to read as a proper point on an altar. Each one is sold individually and varies slightly in size and weight.

How to use it

Stand it at the centre or a corner of your altar and let it mark the space. Selenite towers are traditionally used as the anchor point of a crystal grid, with smaller stones arranged around them.

Many people rest other stones beside a selenite piece overnight as part of their crystal-care routine.

Keep it dry. Selenite is a soft mineral and water will dull and eventually dissolve the polish — never rinse it or leave it outdoors.

Which selenite shape do you need?

Shape Height Best for
Obelisk tower (small) About 2 inches Altar focal point, travel
Rough bar 11.5 inches Laying along a shelf or doorway
Charging plate Flat, 10cm Resting jewellery and stones on

✨ Temple Tip

Never cleanse selenite with water. It is gypsum — soft enough to scratch with a fingernail and slowly soluble. Dry cloth, dry shelf, and it will stay bright for years.

Questions & answers

How big is the small obelisk?

Roughly 1.5 x 1.5 x 2 inches, in the 3-6cm range, weighing about 95 grams.

Where is it from?

Morocco.

Do I get the exact piece in the photograph?

No. Each tower is sold individually and is of similar character to those shown. Size and weight vary slightly by piece.

Can I put selenite in water?

No. Selenite is water-soluble over time and will lose its polish. Keep it dry.

Does it stand upright on its own?

Yes, the base is flat and the tower stands without support.

Small, bright, and quietly in charge of the corner it sits in. #TempleOfDesire

In short

The Small Selenite Obelisk Tower is a polished selenite point by Rare Earth Gallery, sourced from Morocco. It measures roughly 1.5 x 1.5 x 2 inches, in the 3-6 cm range, and weighs about 95 grams, with a flat base that lets it stand unaided. It is used as a focal point on an altar or as the anchor stone at the centre of a crystal grid, with smaller stones arranged around it. It costs $6.95 and is sold individually. Selenite is gypsum, soft and slowly water-soluble, so it is kept dry rather than rinsed, and size and weight vary slightly between pieces.
