How to use it
- Light the end of the bundle with the fewest stems and let it catch, then gently blow out the flame so it smolders.
- Waft the smoke with your hand or a feather, or rest the bundle on a heat-resistant surface such as an abalone shell.
- Move through the room clockwise, paying attention to corners, doorways, and any space that feels heavy.
- Open a window so the smoke — and whatever it carries — has somewhere to go.
- Press the lit end out completely in sand or a shell. Never leave a smoldering bundle unattended.

Sweetgrass invites rather than clears, so it belongs at the beginning of a ritual. Light it before you light anything else, name what you want in the room, then follow with sage to clear and Palo Santo to lift. Doing it in that order is the whole ceremony in three breaths.
Questions we get asked
How long does a 30-inch braid last?
That depends entirely on how much you burn each time. Most people light only the very tip and let it smolder for a minute or two, which means a braid of this length lasts through a great many ceremonies.
What is the difference between sweetgrass and white sage?
Sweetgrass calls positive energies in. White sage clears out what is stale. In the traditional triad they are used together, in that order, and finished with Palo Santo to raise the vibration.
Where does your sweetgrass and sage come from?
Never harvest white sage from national parks or Native land — it is not ours to take. Our sage is farm-grown in sustainable ways on a farm in Mexico.
Can I use it to cleanse my crystals?
Hold it steadily in the smoke of a burning smudge bundle until the smoke flows in a clean, steady stream after circling the stone. Resting it beside Selenite works too.
