Obsidian is not a crystal at all — it is natural glass, formed when lava cools too fast for crystals to grow. That means it holds a remarkable polish and also that it chips like glass on a hard floor. What is a comfort stone?
A smooth, oval stone with a slight indentation, also called a thumb stone or worry stone. It is made to be held in the palm and rubbed with the thumb — the repetitive motion is naturally calming, which makes it a useful object to reach for in a stressful moment.
What is black obsidian?
Natural volcanic glass, formed when lava cools too quickly for a crystal structure to develop. That is why it takes such a high polish.
