Collection: Protection
Thirty-nine protective pieces, $2.95 to $197.00: warding candles and sprays, a reversal vigil and its oil, anointing oils, stones to carry, threshold salt, and six ten-color beeswax pieces. Four jobs share one word — keeping something out, sending it back, absorbing it, or seeing it clearly.
In short: clear the space first, then ward it.

Clear the room before you build the wall
Everything on this page is called protection, and it does four different things. Knowing which one you are buying is most of the decision — but there is a step before that, and it is the one the shop's own product copy is most insistent about. The Fiery Wall of Protection vigil puts it in a single line: a wall built around an uncleared space keeps the problem in with you. Cleanse first. Ward second. Reverse only if the first two were not enough. The order matters more than the shopping list, and we have written it up in full in uncrossing, banishing and protection — which comes first.
Four jobs, one word
Keep it out — warding. Fiery Wall of Protection is the heaviest named formula here, a hoodoo working with roots in folk-Catholic prayer tradition, and it comes in three formats: an $11.95 red seven-day vigil, an $18.00 8 oz dressed jar and an $18.00 smudge spray. Warding Salt ($20.95) does the same job at a threshold, and there is a full walkthrough in how to ward your home.
Send it back — reversal. A different logic, and the makers say so plainly: rather than absorbing what comes at you, you decline it and return it. Return to Sender is the pair — a $24.00 seven-day vigil and a $10.00 anointing oil. Before you reach for it, when banishing is the wrong tool is worth ten minutes.
Carry it — absorbing and grounding. Black tourmaline, Russian shungite, smoky quartz, obsidian, malachite, pyrite: stones worn or pocketed, $2.95 to $65.95. The $29.95 Energy Protection Bracelet is explicit about the pairing — black tourmaline absorbs, golden obsidian redirects. More on the stone itself in black tourmaline, explained and the protective stones worth carrying.
See it clearly — shadow work. Black obsidian ($4.95) is the outlier. Its own description calls it direct and uncompromising rather than soothing: it shields and it returns the truth of a situation without flinching. That is protection, but it is not comfort, and shadow work has a literature of its own.
The step that is missing from this page — and where it lives
Here is the honest gap. This collection holds the warding, the reversal and the stones. It holds almost none of the clearing tools that every one of those products tells you to use first. Three exceptions sit here — the cedar, orange and cinnamon stick ($7.95), the mugwort stick ($7.95) and the sage gift box ($72.95) — and the rest of the clearing shelf is next door in Sacred Smoke & Cleansing and Smudge Sticks & Sage.
So if you are starting from nothing, the honest two-item basket is a clearing tool from those pages plus one warding piece from this one. If you would rather not burn anything at all, what to burn instead of white sage and the cleansing bath both cover smokeless routes, and which salt to use explains why the warding blend is black rather than table salt.
What a protection flame costs per hour
Protection is the one category where people reliably buy the wrong size. A six-hour figural candle is a working — you dress it, you burn it, it is gone. A vigil is a watch — it sits lit for a week. They are not substitutes, and the per-hour figures make the difference obvious.
| Piece | Price | Burn time | Per hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fiery Wall 7-day vigil | $11.95 | ~168 h | ~7 ¢ |
| Return to Sender 7-day vigil | $24.00 | ~168 h | ~14 ¢ |
| Fiery Wall 8 oz jar | $18.00 | up to 50 h | ~36 ¢ |
| Home Blessing 8 oz jar | $18.00 | up to 50 h | ~36 ¢ |
| Black Tourmaline crystal candle | $28.95 | up to 60 h | ~48 ¢ |
| Rozetka rosette kit | $43.95 | 30–40 h | ~$1.10–$1.47 |
| Yagra incense, 30 sticks | $57.95 | ~30 h | ~$1.93 |
| Pentagram Merkaba candle | $25.95 | up to 18 h | ~$1.44 |
| Hamsa Hand candle | $20.95 | up to 8 h | ~$2.62 |
| Seal of Solomon kit | $36.95 | ~6 h | ~$6.16 |
Two fair warnings about that table. The $11.95 vigil is simultaneously the heaviest formula here and the cheapest sustained flame — roughly seven cents an hour, which is a genuinely unusual combination and the single best-value item on the page for house work. And the kits at the bottom are not priced by burn time at all: a kit is a candle plus three herbs, a consecrated oil and written instructions, so you are paying for the components and the method, not the hours. Judging a $36.95 kit by its six hours is as unfair as judging a cookbook by the weight of the paper.
Black is the protection color — except on one piece, where all ten are
Six pieces here are Parlour of Wonders figural beeswax candles and kits, each offered in ten colors whose names are the intentions: Pink (Romance), Red (Passion), Blue (Reconciliation), White (Blessing), Black (Protection), Green (Prosperity), Purple (Power), Yellow (Success), Orange (Removing Blocks), Brown (Grounding). On five of them — the Hamsa hand, the Pentagram Merkaba, the Seal of Solomon, the Rozetka rosette and the Winter Solstice kit — the shape carries the working and black is the protective choice.
The Pentacle of Protection kit ($39.95) inverts that: on that one piece, all ten colors are protective, sorted by what is being protected — power, success, blessings, love, friends and family, new ventures, money, legal matters, health, and black for protection in general. It is the only item in the shop that lets you aim protection at one area of life rather than at everything at once. If the symbol itself is the reason you are here, pentacle versus pentagram settles the terminology, and the color meanings and what a black candle actually means cover the rest.
Working a figural candle properly is a short skill: write the petition, dress the candle, then read what it does — the flame, the soot, the glass of a seven-day vigil and what to do with the wax afterwards. The $33.95 booster pack adds four black tapers, an extra oil, more herbs, a stone and a petition paper to a kit you already own — it is an add-on, not a starting point.
Smoke, spray, or stone — choose by your constraint first
Most people arrive at this page with a constraint they have not named yet, and naming it removes half the catalog immediately.
You cannot burn anything. Rented flat, office desk, a smoke alarm in the hallway, a housemate with asthma. Three sprays do warding work with no flame and no ember: the Fiery Wall smudge spray ($18.00), the 4 oz Evil Eye mist ($18.00, sandalwood and patchouli) and the six-botanical Protection Spray ($23.95 — angelica, rosemary, clove, sandalwood, frankincense, cedarwood). Warding salt is smokeless too, and so is every stone on the page. If burning is the sticking point in general, burning incense in an apartment is the practical piece.
You want something on your body. The evil eye sodalite bracelet ($12.95, 20 grams — light enough to forget, which is the only quality that matters in a bracelet you wear daily), the Energy Protection Bracelet ($29.95) or the black tourmaline ring ($65.95, sizes 6–9). Which wrist to wear it on comes up constantly and has a real answer.
You want oil you can carry. Three anointing oils at $10.00 each: Evil Eye (rosemary, rue and hyssop in coconut oil), Dragon's Blood and Return to Sender. These are the cheapest entry to the page that is still an active working rather than an object.
You want one thing that covers a whole house. The Sage Herbal Gift Box ($72.95) is four formats of one herb — four incense sticks at 40–50 minutes each, a charcoal disk at 40–60 minutes, three smudge bombs at about 30 minutes each, and a smudge stick good for multiple burns. It is the answer to "I do not know which format I like" and it arrives as a gift box. It also makes real smoke; start away from the detectors. How to smudge a house and how to burn a stick properly are the two pieces to read first, and white sage, honestly covers the sourcing question that ought to come up before you buy any of it.
The stones, sorted by what they are actually for
Eleven of the pieces here are stones, from $2.95 to $65.95, and the price tells you about the size and the setting rather than the strength.
Under $10, pocket-sized. Amethyst A+ small ($2.95 — the cheapest thing on the page), black obsidian ($4.95), smoky quartz ($4.95), pyrite ($5.95), labradorite comfort stone ($6.95), tourmalinated quartz ($6.95, currently out of stock), black obsidian comfort stone ($6.95) and the Triple Protection Trio ($8.99 — obsidian, tiger's eye and hematite together, which is the most stone per dollar here).
The middle band, $12.95 to $29.95. Malachite ($12.95 — an amplifier, which means it magnifies whatever state you bring to it, so it is the one stone here that rewards being approached deliberately), the sodalite evil eye bracelet ($12.95), the Russian shungite palm stone ($14.95 — roughly two billion years old, one of the only natural fullerene sources; out of stock at the time of writing, which is why it is named here rather than linked), the All Seeing Eye pyramid ($29.95, labradorite or obsidian) and the Energy Protection Bracelet ($29.95).
The one piece above that. Only the black tourmaline ring ($65.95), where the money buys sterling silver and a rough unpolished face rather than a better stone.
Whatever you pick, it arrives carrying whatever it has picked up on the way. Cleanse it before you carry it, charge it if that is part of your practice, and check which stones must not go in water first — malachite is on that list. The wider shelf is in Crystals & Stones, Tumbled & Pocket Stones and Obsidian.
What this page cannot do, said plainly
Protection work is a practice, not a guarantee, and nothing sold here is a substitute for medical care, legal advice, or calling someone who can actually intervene. If a real person is frightening, harassing or threatening you, that is a safety matter and belongs with people who can act on it — a locksmith, a lawyer, a doctor, the police. A candle is not a plan.
The other honest note is about the frame of mind this category can encourage. If you find yourself reading ordinary bad luck as an attack, the useful first move is usually the boring one: sleep, the unresolved conflict, the job. How to know if you are cursed was written for exactly that question and spends most of its length on the ordinary explanations, which is the right ratio. When banishing is the wrong tool covers the same ground from the other side. Protection work sits well beside practical steps. It sits badly in place of them.
And if none of the shelf formats fit the situation — because the situation is specific and the objects are general — the made-to-measure Personal Ritual ($197.00) is Leif Daniel writing one for your circumstances rather than for everyone. It is the most expensive item in the collection and the only one that is not an object at all.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to cleanse a space before I use a protection candle?
Yes, and it is the step people skip. The shop's own copy on the Fiery Wall of Protection vigil says it plainly: a wall built around an uncleared space keeps the problem in with you. Clear first — smoke, spray or a spiritual bath — then ward. The order is cleanse, then protect, and a reversal working comes after both, not instead of them.
What crystal is best for protection?
Black tourmaline is the default, and for a reason: it is described as absorbing rather than deflecting, so it suits a person who has to stay in the room. Smoky quartz grounds, obsidian is the confronting one — it shields and reveals at the same time, which is useful and not restful. Shungite and hematite are the other two commonly carried. If you want one stone and no research, a black tourmaline pocket piece or the sterling silver ring is the uncomplicated answer.
How do I protect my home from negative energy?
Work the thresholds rather than the whole house. A line of warding salt across the doorways and window sills that face the street, a smoke or spray cleansing through every room first, and one sustained light — a seven-day vigil or a 50-hour jar candle — rather than a six-hour figure that is over before the evening is. Doorways, not square footage, is the practical rule.
What does a Return to Sender candle actually do?
It is a reversal working, which is a different logic from warding. A ward absorbs or blocks what comes at you. A reversal declines it and returns it to where it came from. The Return to Sender vigil is a seven-day candle prepared for that, and the matching anointing oil does the same job in a form you can carry. Reversal is usually reached for after warding has already been tried.
Is it bad luck to burn a black candle?
No. Black in this tradition is the protection and absorption color, not a malevolent one — on six of the figural beeswax pieces here, black is specifically the protective option. The association between black candles and harm is a modern film convention rather than a practice one. What the color means is set by the working you are doing, not by the wax.
What can I use for protection if I cannot burn anything?
Three sprays here do warding work with no flame, no ember and no smoke — which is what makes them usable in rentals, offices, shared housing and around anyone smoke-sensitive. Warding salt at a threshold is also smokeless. So are the stones: a pocket stone, a bracelet or a ring does not set off a smoke alarm or breach a lease.
How long does a 7-day protection candle burn?
About seven days of continuous burn, roughly 168 hours, which is why they are called vigil candles. That makes them the cheapest sustained flame on this page by a wide margin — the Fiery Wall vigil works out at roughly seven cents an hour. A dressed 8 oz jar runs up to 50 hours; a figural beeswax candle is a six-hour object and is meant to be used up in one or two sittings.
How do I know whether I actually need protection work?
Start with the ordinary explanations, because they are usually the right ones — poor sleep, a draining job, an unresolved conflict, a stretch of genuine stress. None of those are fixed by a candle, and treating them as spiritual attack tends to make them heavier rather than lighter. Protection work sits best alongside practical steps, not instead of them. And if a real person is threatening or frightening you, that is a matter for people who can actually intervene, not for a working.
