A weight, a chain, and a still hand. That is the entire mechanism. The pendulum does not know anything you do not — what it does is make very small movements in your own hand visible, which is a surprisingly useful thing when you are trying to work out what you already think.

This one is a faceted stone point on a 7-inch chain, roughly an inch square and an inch and three quarters long, averaging 30 grams. Light enough to swing freely, heavy enough to keep going once it starts.

At a glance

  • Faceted stone pendulum point
  • 7-inch chain
  • Approximately 1" x 1" x 1.75"
  • Average weight 30 grams
  • A divination tool for personal practice
  • Ships within 3 business days

How to use it

Rest your elbow on a table, hold the chain between thumb and forefinger, and let the point hang still. Wait until it stops moving on its own.

Establish your directions first: ask for a yes and watch which way it swings, then ask for a no. Those two answers are yours and may not match anyone else's.

Ask closed questions only. A pendulum answers yes, no, and unclear — anything more open belongs to a different tool.

Pendulum work at a glance

Step What to do
Settle Elbow braced, chain still
Calibrate Establish your yes and your no
Ask One closed question at a time
Stop End the session while answers are still clear

✨ Temple Tip

Calibrate every single time, not just the first. Your yes direction can shift between sessions, and five seconds of checking is the difference between reading a pendulum and reading yesterday's pendulum.

Questions & answers

How long is the chain?

7 inches.

How big is the pendulum itself?

Approximately 1 by 1 by 1.75 inches, averaging 30 grams.

Which stone is used?

Stone type varies by piece — see the photographs for the range.

How do I set my yes and no?

Hold the pendulum still, ask it to show you a yes, and note the direction. Repeat for no. Those directions are personal to you.

Is it suitable for a beginner?

Yes. A single-point pendulum on a short chain is the most forgiving format to learn on.

It only ever tells you what your hand already knew. #TempleOfDesire

In short

The Stone Pendulum with Chain is a divination tool by Rare Earth Gallery: a faceted stone point roughly 1 x 1 x 1.75 inches on a 7-inch chain, averaging 30 grams. It is used for closed yes-or-no questions; the practitioner braces an elbow, lets the point hang still, then establishes personal yes and no directions before asking. Those directions are individual and can shift between sessions, so calibration is repeated each time. It costs $12.95 and includes the pendulum and chain. Stone type varies by piece, and a pendulum answers only yes, no, or unclear, so open questions belong to a different tool.
