A 3-inch selenite stick, pearly white with the fine hair-like crystal structure the mineral is known for. Selenite grows in long rectangular formations — logs — and takes its name from the Ancient Greek word for Moon. Some of the largest crystals ever found are selenite: the Naica Mine in Mexico produced specimens so large that geologists needed protective suits to study them in 136°F heat. The mine was closed in 2015 and flooded, and the selenite was left to keep growing. In metaphysical practice selenite is a crown-and-above stone of cleansing, chakra alignment, and divine connection — and it is the one crystal that is said never to need cleansing itself.

Does selenite need cleansing?
No — it is the classic example of a crystal that does not. Please do not try to clean it, especially not with water or salt.
Why can it not get wet?
Its gypsum mineral base is water-soluble. Water will visibly damage the surface.
Mine is shedding tiny fibers. Is that a fault?
No. Selenite's structure is thousands of fine hair-like crystals grown together, so a little shedding is normal.
Does it stop working when it looks dull?
No. It picks up oils from hands and ash from ceremony and keeps working regardless.
How big is it?
Approximately 3 inches. Each piece is natural and varies slightly.
