How to choose a beeswax spell candle
These are hand-cast figures rather than tapers: a scorpion, a ram's head, a hamsa, a flat pentagram disc, a small stepped pyramid, a knobbed seven-day candle. Every one is poured by Parlour of Wonders from 100% pure beeswax with a lead-free cotton wick, and every one is fragrance-free — there is no scent added, which is why they take a dressing oil cleanly. Nineteen designs, from $15.95 to $32.95, each in the same ten colors. If you are weighing the wax itself, beeswax vs paraffin candles sets out what actually differs.
Burn time is the number to read, and it does not follow height
This is where most buyers guess wrong. All twelve zodiac candles are 3.5" tall, and eleven of them state up to 6 hours — Leo says 8. The Hamsa Hand and the Forest Fairy are the same 3.5" and state 8. The Psychic Cat and the Pentagram Merkaba are also 3.5" and state 18. The tallest candle in the collection, the 6.5" Love Spell Heart Taper, has the shortest burn of all at 5 hours. The figures differ in mass and wick far more than they differ in height, so read the stated hours rather than judging by the picture. If your working needs the flame to be alive for an evening rather than an hour, the two 18-hour figures, the 10-hour All-Seeing Eye Pyramid and the 7" Seven Knob are the ones that do it.
The zodiac wheel — all twelve signs, $22.95 each
A sign candle is narrow by design: it serves work aimed at that sign, your own or another person's, and nothing else. Each product page names the planet that rules the sign and what the maker works it for. Aries (Mars; courage, passion, victory), Taurus (Venus; abundance, stability, sensuality — April 20 to May 20), Gemini (Mercury; communication, creativity, adaptability — May 21 to June 20), Cancer (the Moon; intuition, nurturing, emotional healing — June 21 to July 22), Leo (the Sun; creativity, confidence, leadership — July 23 to August 22), Virgo (Mercury; focus, healing, practicality), Libra (Venus; balance, harmony, love — September 23 to October 22), Scorpio (Pluto and Mars; transformation, power, intuition), Sagittarius (Jupiter; adventure, wisdom, optimism — November 22 to December 21), Capricorn (Saturn; ambition, discipline, success — December 22 to January 19), Aquarius (Uranus; innovation, vision, independence — January 20 to February 18) and Pisces (Neptune; intuition, compassion, dreams). Most people buy their Sun sign. The second most useful choice is the Moon sign, which moon sign meaning explained sets out, and the third is the sign a season is passing through — Libra season 2026 runs from September 23, Scorpio season follows it. The Capricorn candle is also the one people reach for around a Saturn return. Every zodiac figure on this page is 3.5", $22.95 and stated at up to 6 hours, except Leo at 8. The wider zodiac candles shelf gathers every sign candle in the shop, including these.
The seven symbolic figures
These carry across many workings, which is why a first beeswax candle is usually one of them. The Hamsa Hand ($20.95, up to 8 hours) is the protection figure — the maker's own note is that it does two jobs at once, turning ill will away and inviting blessing in, so name both in the petition; the magazine has the hamsa hand meaning and the broader evil eye protection traditions. The Pentagram Merkaba ($25.95, up to 18 hours) is a flat five-pointed disc worked for protection and sacred geometry — see pentacle vs pentagram for what the symbol is and merkaba meditation for the second half of its name. The All-Seeing Eye Pyramid ($22.95, about 5", up to 10 hours) is the abundance figure — the pyramid for resources gathering on a stable base, the eye for spotting the opportunity; pyramid energy: the claims and what holds up is the honest companion read. The Psychic Cat ($22.95, up to 18 hours) is for intuition and clairvoyance work; the maker's tip is to burn it at the same hour on several days and write down what arrives — the four clair senses and how to open your third eye give that practice a frame. The Forest Fairy ($25.95, up to 8 hours) is for nature spirits, peace and quiet enchantment. The Love Spell Heart Taper ($15.95, the cheapest candle here) is part figure, part taper: eight hearts, four at the front and four at the back, each of which can be inscribed with a name or a symbol, burned one heart a day across four days or all at once; it is worked for new love, rekindling and reconciliation, and love spells and consent is the read before any of that. And the Seven Knob ($32.95, 7", up to 14 hours) is a seven-day candle in one piece — one knob a night, roughly one to two hours each, for anything that needs persistence rather than a single push.
Ten colors, the same ten on every candle
Every one of the nineteen is sold in pink, red, blue, white, black, green, purple, yellow, orange and brown, and the core meanings hold across the range: red for passion, pink for romance, white for blessing, black for protection, green for prosperity, purple for power. What shifts slightly from figure to figure is the label the maker gives the remaining colors, because it is written for that figure's work — blue is reconciliation on most candles but healing on the Hamsa and the Forest Fairy and communication on Aquarius and Pisces; orange is "removing blocks" on the zodiac wheel and "road opener" on the Hamsa, the Pentagram and the Seven Knob; brown is grounding almost everywhere but court case on the Pyramid and court case and fidelity on the Seven Knob; and the Psychic Cat relabels all ten for psychic work. The color table on each product page is the one to read. Choose the color for the intention and the figure for the field it works in; if you are unsure, white is the all-purpose choice. Candle color meanings covers the tradition behind the correspondences.
The candle comes alone — what to dress it with
None of these figures is sold with oil or herbs, and only one has a kit version: the Seven Knob Candle Spell Kit ($51.95) adds the maker's oil, herbs and printed instructions to the same 7" candle. The other eighteen do not exist as kits; the Candle Spell Kits shelf is built around different figures altogether — tarot cards, the Seal of Solomon, a skull taper. What the product pages do suggest is a dressing: a spiritual oil on the wax, a petition paper underneath, and for several signs a specific add-on from the Candle Spell Booster Packs — Spotlight for Leo when the work is about being noticed, Commitment for Taurus and Libra when it is about something meant to hold, Cleansing for Cancer when the emotional work needs clear ground first. Oils are on the ritual oils and sprays shelf. Because the wax carries no fragrance, whatever you put on it is the only scent in the room. How to dress a candle with oil and how to write a petition paper are the two steps every product page assumes; candle magic for beginners sorts what you need from what can wait.
Burning them
A figural candle is wide at the base and slumps rather than burns down straight, so stand it on a level heatproof dish with room around it, not in a narrow holder — the candle holders shelf has flat dishes that work. Keep it away from drafts, curtains and anything that catches. If you dress it, put the oil on the wax and keep it off the wick. Snuff rather than blow it out if you are working across more than one session. Never leave one burning unattended or overnight, and the Seven Knob wants a fixed time each day for seven days — it is a schedule, not a suggestion. Best time for a spell covers moon, day and hour if timing matters to you; candle flame meanings and why a candle burns black explain what a flickering or sooting flame usually is (a draft), and what to do with leftover wax closes the working. These candles are traditionally used for ritual focus and intention work; any effect beyond that is not scientifically established, and nothing here replaces medical, legal or financial advice. For candles that are chosen by named working rather than by figure and color, see ritual candles; for the cheapest options in the shop, candles under $20.
Frequently asked questions
What is a beeswax spell candle, and why beeswax rather than paraffin?
These are small hand-cast figures — a scorpion, a ram's head, a hamsa, a pentagram disc, a stepped pyramid — poured in 100% pure beeswax with a lead-free cotton wick and left fragrance-free. Beeswax burns slowly and holds fine molded detail that softer waxes lose, and because there is no fragrance oil in them the only scent is the wax itself. That matters if you dress a candle with your own oil: nothing competes with it.
How long do they burn?
Shorter than most people expect, and it is not proportional to height. All twelve zodiac candles are 3.5" tall with a stated burn of up to 6 hours — except Leo, listed at 8. The Hamsa Hand and Forest Fairy are the same 3.5" but stated at 8 hours, and the Psychic Cat and Pentagram Merkaba, also 3.5", at 18. The All-Seeing Eye Pyramid is about 5" and 10 hours, the Love Spell Heart Taper 6.5" and 5 hours, the Seven Knob 7" and up to 14. Same wax, same maker, and the figures differ enough in mass that height alone does not predict it.
Do these come with oil and herbs, or as a kit?
No. Every candle on this page is sold on its own: the figure, in the color you choose, and nothing else. The one exception is the Seven Knob, which also exists as a Candle Spell Kit at $51.95 with the maker's oil, herbs and instructions. The other eighteen have no kit version. If you want a dressed working, add a ritual oil and a petition paper yourself, or one of the Candle Spell Booster Packs the product pages point to.
Which one do I choose?
Twelve of the nineteen are zodiac candles — the full wheel from Aries to Pisces — and they are tied to one sign, so buy the sign you are actually working with, whether that is your own or someone else's. The rest are symbolic and travel further: the Hamsa Hand and Pentagram Merkaba for protection, the Psychic Cat for intuition work, the All-Seeing Eye Pyramid for abundance, the Forest Fairy for nature and peace, the Heart Taper for love. If you want one candle that suits many workings, take a symbolic figure over a zodiac one.
Which color should I choose?
All nineteen come in the same ten colors, and the core meanings are constant: red for passion, pink for romance, white for blessing, black for protection, green for prosperity, purple for power, yellow for success. Blue, orange and brown are labeled slightly differently from figure to figure — blue is reconciliation on most candles but healing on the Hamsa, orange is road opener on some and removing blocks on others — so read the color table on the product page you are buying. When in doubt, white.
What is the Seven Knob candle for?
It is a seven-day candle in one piece: seven stacked knobs, roughly 1–2 hours of burn each, up to about 14 hours in total. You burn one knob a day for seven consecutive days on the same intention. That is a commitment rather than a preference — if you cannot light it at the same point each day for a week, one of the single-burn figures will serve you better.
