Portal Days 2026 and 2027: Every Date, Month by Month
Every remaining portal day of 2026 and all 75 portal days of 2027, worked out from the Dreamspell count: weekdays, the ten-day blocks, which dates fall on a full moon, new moon or solstice, why other lists differ, and a 15-minute practice you can repeat.
Portal days are the dates people mark for intention-setting, reflection and release. This is the complete list for the rest of 2026 and all of 2027, worked out day by day from the count the term comes from, with the weekday, the day's name in that count, and which ones fall on a full moon, a new moon or a solstice.
Contents
The next portal days are October 23 and 29, 2026, then November 3, 6, 11, 19, 22, 27 and 30, and a ten-day run from December 10 to 19, 2026. 2027 has 75 portal days, including three ten-day runs: January 19–28, August 27–September 5 and October 6–15. Dates follow the Dreamspell 13-moon count.
The term portal day comes from the Dreamspell calendar José and Lloydine Argüelles published from 1987 to 1990, which marks 52 of 260 days as galactic activation portals.
The traditional 260-day count kept by Maya daykeepers has no portal-day category and in 2026–27 runs 44 days apart from the Dreamspell count.
In the Dreamspell count, 2027 has 75 portal days; the dates were calculated with February 29 skipped and checked against published reference points.
Repeating-number dates such as 11/11 and 12/12 are treated as portal days in modern numerology.
A short, repeatable practice of one written intention, ten minutes of stillness and a dated note is a common way to work with portal days.
On portal days the veil is thinner and intentions manifest more easily.
VERIFIED = verifiable in scientific or official sources · TRADITIONAL = historically or culturally recorded · LIVED PRACTICE = widely practiced, experiential knowledge · NOT PROVEN = spiritual interpretation, not scientifically established.
Quick answer: The next portal days are October 23 and 29, 2026, then November 3, 6, 11, 19, 22, 27 and 30, and a ten-day run from December 10 to 19, 2026. 2027 has 75 portal days, including three ten-day runs: January 19–28, August 27–September 5 and October 6–15. Dates follow the Dreamspell 13-moon count.
What are portal days?
Portal days are 52 of the 260 days in the Dreamspell calendar that its author, José Argüelles, marked as “galactic activation portals.” People use them as dates for intention-setting, meditation and letting go. Because 260 does not divide into 365, they land on different calendar dates every year, which is why you need a new list each year.
That is the short version, and it is the one that produces the dates below. The phrase “portal day” is also used for repeating-number dates like 11/11 and for astronomical turning points like the solstices; we untangle those three meanings in what portal days are and where the idea comes from. This page does one job: give you every date, checked, so you can plan.
Portal days 2026: the dates still ahead
From today, October 16, 2026, there are 20 portal days left in the year. Ten of them come in a single unbroken block in December, which is the densest stretch of the whole winter.

Two dates people ask about specifically: November 11, 2026 is a portal day in this count as well as being 11/11, the date most Americans already associate with the word portal (our 11:11 portal guide covers that side). December 12, 2026 also counts, because it sits inside the December 10–19 block. The full moons of November 24 and December 23–24 are not portal days.
Portal days 2027: all 75 dates, month by month

| November | 2, 5, 13, 18, 21, 26 | 6 |
| December | 2, 9, 10, 17, 21 | 5 |
The year opens quietly and then hits the first ten-day block from January 19 to 28, which happens to contain the Wolf Moon on January 22. May is the emptiest month with only two dates, back to back on the 13th and 14th, which is where the 260-day count runs out and starts again. October is the fullest: twelve dates, ten of them in a row.

How many portal days are there in 2027?
There are 75 portal days in 2027, the same number as in 2026. That is not a fixed figure: 52 portal days per 260-day cycle averages out to about 73 a year, but the clusters either land inside a calendar year or straddle its turn. By our count, 2024 had 81, 2025 had 67, and 2028 will have 67 again.
The 52 portal days in each cycle are not evenly spread. Twenty of them sit in two solid blocks, kin 106 to 115 and kin 146 to 155. In 2027 the cycle passes through those blocks in January, then again in late August into September and in October, which is why three of the year's months carry so many dates. The remaining 32 are scattered singly or in pairs.
If you want to work with this yourself, this is what we use
Mindful Mornings Journal — Lined Notebook for Your Morning Ritual
Seventy-five dates are only useful if you write down what you set on each one and look back later. A plain lined notebook with no printed system is what we use for that, because it doesn't fall apart when you skip a week. $18.99.
Why do other websites list different portal days?
Because they are counting different things. Some lists only use repeating-number dates such as 1/1, 2/2 and 12/12. Some mix in eclipses and equinoxes. And lists that do follow the 260-day count disagree on how to handle leap days. The dates on this page follow the Dreamspell count, which is where the term comes from.
Even inside the 260-day world there are two counts, and they are not the same. The Dreamspell, published by José and Lloydine Argüelles in 1987 to 1990, skips February 29 entirely: the leap day gets no kin, so the count pauses for a day. The traditional count still kept by Maya daykeepers in highland Guatemala never pauses. The result is that the two drift apart by one day every leap year. In 2026 and 2027, the Dreamspell count runs 44 days ahead of the traditional count; after February 29, 2028 the gap shrinks to 43.
| Type | Where the dates come from | Example 2026–27 | How the date is fixed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dreamspell portal days | 52 of 260 days in Argüelles' count, 1987 | Dec 10–19, 2026; Jan 19–28, 2027 | By the 260-day cycle, skipping Feb 29 |
| Repeating-number dates | Modern numerology and the internet | 11/11, 12/12 | By the Gregorian calendar |
| Astronomical thresholds | Solstices, equinoxes, eclipses | June 21 and Dec 21, 2027 | By the actual position of the Sun or Moon |
The traditional Maya count has no category called a portal day at all. That is worth knowing, and it is not a reason to drop the practice; we give the background in our guide to the Tzolk’in, the 260-day Maya calendar. It is a reason not to call these dates ancient Maya wisdom.
How we worked out these dates
Most portal-day lists online are copied from other lists, so errors travel. We calculated ours. The method: take a fixed reference point in the Dreamspell count, step forward one kin per calendar day, skip February 29, and mark the 52 portal kin.
We checked the result three ways. December 21, 2012, the famous end-date, comes out as kin 207, Blue Crystal Hand, which is the value Dreamspell sources give. July 26, 2026, the Dreamspell new year, comes out as kin 229, Red Galactic Moon, the published year-bearer. And our 2026 list matches, date for date, the 75 dates on our German sister magazine's portal-day calendar, which was compiled independently against several published lists. The moon-phase and solstice times come from the NASA JPL DE421 ephemeris.
Which portal days line up with the moon or a solstice?
| Date | Event | Kin |

| Dec 17, 2026 | First Quarter, 12:42 AM ET | 113 |
| Jan 22, 2027 | Full Moon, 7:17 AM ET | 149 |
| May 13, 2027 | First Quarter, 12:43 AM ET | 260 |
| Jun 4, 2027 | New Moon, 3:40 PM ET | 22 |
| Jun 21, 2027 | June solstice, 10:10 AM ET | 39 |
| Jul 3, 2027 | New Moon, 11:02 PM ET | 51 |
| Jul 10, 2027 | First Quarter, 2:39 PM ET | 58 |
| Aug 9, 2027 | First Quarter, 12:54 AM ET | 88 |
| Aug 17, 2027 | Full Moon, 3:28 AM ET | 96 |
| Aug 31, 2027 | New Moon, 1:41 PM ET | 110 |
| Oct 7, 2027 | First Quarter, 7:47 AM ET | 147 |
| Oct 15, 2027 | Full Moon, 9:47 AM ET | 155 |
| Nov 13, 2027 | Full Moon, 10:25 PM ET | 184 |
| Dec 21, 2027 | December solstice, 9:42 PM ET | 222 |
The one most people will notice is January 22, 2027: the Wolf Moon is the closest full moon of the year and it falls in the middle of the January portal block. Both 2027 solstices also land on portal days, June 21 and December 21, which makes them natural anchor points if you only want to keep a handful of dates. For the rest of the moon's year, the full moon calendar 2027 and new moon calendar 2027 give every phase, and the 2027 eclipses are listed separately. None of the 2027 eclipses falls on a portal day.
Temple Tip
Don't try to keep 75 dates. Pick the ten-day blocks and the two solstices, and treat the scattered single dates as optional. A practice you keep on six dates beats one you abandon after the third.
What should you do on a portal day?
Keep it short and repeatable: clear a small space, write one intention in a sentence, spend ten minutes on a single practice such as sitting quietly, journaling or a candle meditation, and close by noting the date and what you set. The value comes from returning to the same shape on the next date.
A 15-minute portal day practice
- Clear. Tidy one surface, open a window, or burn a little incense. Two minutes.
- Name one thing. Write a single sentence: what you are starting, or what you are putting down. One, not five.
- Practice. Ten minutes of one thing: sitting still, writing, walking without your phone, or watching a candle flame.
- Anchor. Write the date, the kin if you like, and one line about how the day felt. This is the part that makes the next date useful.
- Close. Put the candle out, close the notebook, and get on with your day.
If your intention is a goal rather than a release, the method in scripting: how to write your future pairs well with the writing step. If you want something on the table while you sit, our morning ritual collection is where we keep the small things that make a five-minute practice easier to start.
How to use a ten-day portal block
The ten-day runs are the reason portal days feel intense to people who follow them, and the reason they are worth planning. Ten consecutive dates are long enough to work as a small project rather than a one-off ritual.
A simple plan for December 10–19, 2026 or January 19–28, 2027
- Day 1: write down what you want the ten days to be about. One theme.
- Days 2–4: clear. Physically: one drawer, one inbox, one corner per day.
- Days 5–6: rest. Nothing to add. Notice what comes up.
- Days 7–9: do one concrete action per day toward the theme.
- Day 10: read back what you wrote on day 1 and write three lines on what changed.
The December block ends two days before the winter solstice, so the solstice itself can serve as the closing day; our winter solstice rituals pick up from there. The January block contains the Wolf Moon, which gives the middle of the run a natural high point.
Do portal days make you tired or emotional?
Many people report feeling tired, restless, emotional or unusually clear on portal days. There is no evidence that a date has an effect on the body. What is well documented is that expectation shapes attention: if you are told a day is significant, you notice your moods, dreams and coincidences more closely.
That does not make the experience fake. It means the useful response is the same either way: go easy on the day, sleep, write things down. And if fatigue, low mood or poor sleep keeps going well past a date, that is something for a doctor, not a calendar.
Which portal days should you keep?
Pick the line that sounds most like you.
Voices from practice: what people report
We do not publish invented testimonials. These are patterns that recur in public posts about portal days on forums, Substack newsletters and social media, given without names.
The most frequent complaint is confusion: people find three lists with different dates and don't know which to trust, which is why we show our method. The second recurring theme is the blocks: people who track portal days describe the ten-day runs as the part they remember, more than any single date. And people who keep a written log tend to say the log, not the date, is what made the practice worth continuing.
What we don't promise
A portal day does not change your luck, your health or anyone else's behavior. There is no evidence that the Dreamspell dates, or any other list, have an effect from outside. The count itself is a twentieth-century creation, not an ancient Maya teaching. What a portal day can give you is a pre-agreed reason to stop and pay attention, which is worth something, and that is all we claim for it.
Practically: how to work with this
- Put the dates in your calendar now. Start with the December 2026 block and the January 2027 block.
- Choose a format and keep it. The same 15-minute shape every time.
- Write it down. Date, one intention, one line afterwards. Review once a quarter.
- Combine sparingly. If you also work with the moon, use the overlaps listed above; our moon magic pieces are there if you want something for the altar on those nights.
- Look at the related dates. The Lion’s Gate on 8/8 and the 10/10 portal are separate traditions, with their own logic.
Frequently asked questions
When is the next portal day?
The next portal days in 2026 are October 23 and October 29, followed by November 3, 6, 11, 19, 22, 27 and 30, and then ten days in a row from December 10 to December 19, 2026.
How many portal days are in 2027?
There are 75 portal days in 2027 in the Dreamspell count, the same number as in 2026. They include three ten-day runs: January 19–28, August 27 to September 5, and October 6–15.
Is 11/11/2026 a portal day?
Yes. November 11, 2026 is a portal day in the Dreamspell count (kin 77, Red Crystal Earth), and it is also 11/11, the repeating-number date most people associate with portals. November 11, 2027 is not a Dreamspell portal day.
Is 12/12/2026 a portal day?
Yes. December 12, 2026 falls inside the ten-day portal block from December 10 to 19, 2026, so it counts in the Dreamspell list as well as being a repeating-number date.
Why are the portal days different every year?
The portal days are fixed positions in a 260-day cycle, and 260 does not fit evenly into 365. Each year the cycle starts about 105 days later in the calendar, so the same 52 positions fall on new dates. Leap days shift them by one more day.
Are portal days a real Maya tradition?
No. The term comes from the Dreamspell, published by José Argüelles from 1987. The traditional 260-day count kept by Maya daykeepers has no portal-day category, and in 2026–27 it runs 44 days apart from the Dreamspell count.
What should I do on a portal day?
Something short you can repeat: clear a small space, write one intention, spend ten minutes on one practice such as meditation or journaling, and note the date and how it went. Consistency across dates matters more than doing much on any one.
Are portal days dangerous?
No. There is no evidence that portal days affect body or mind. People often feel more emotional or tired because they are paying closer attention. If symptoms persist after a date, see a doctor.
