Stalactite formations inside an amethyst geode are the collector's find. They form when mineral-rich water drips into the cavity over an unreasonable length of time and crystallises mid-fall, leaving a hanging column that the purple then grows over.

This one is 1.25 kilograms of Brazilian amethyst with the outer edge polished smooth and the formation left exactly as it was found. At roughly 4.5 by 5.25 by 4.5 inches it is a compact piece with a great deal going on inside it.

At a glance

  • Amethyst geode with stalactite formation
  • Origin: Brazil
  • 4.5" x 5.25" x 4.5"
  • 1.25 kilograms
  • Polished edge, high-quality grade
  • Ships within 3 business days

How to use it

Position it so the stalactite is visible from your seated eye level — that is the feature, and it disappears if the piece sits too high or too low.

A single lamp off to one side will do more for it than overhead light, which flattens the cavity.

Dust with a soft dry brush and keep it out of long direct sunlight, which fades amethyst over time.

Three amethyst geodes, three characters

Piece Weight What makes it
Stalactite geode 1.25kg Rare hanging formation
Dogtooth calcite geode 780g Two minerals in one cavity
Classic polished-edge geode 967g Even, deep purple crystal bed

✨ Temple Tip

Photograph it from below the horizon line of the cavity. Stalactite geodes look ordinary shot from above and extraordinary shot slightly from underneath — display it the same way you would photograph it.

In short

The Amethyst Stalactite Geode Sculpture is a Brazilian amethyst geode by Rare Earth Gallery containing a stalactite formation, a hanging column formed when mineral-rich water dripped into the cavity and crystallised, later overgrown by amethyst. It measures roughly 4.5 x 5.25 x 4.5 inches, weighs 1.25 kilograms, has a polished outer edge, and stands unaided on a cut base. It is displayed at seated eye level with a lamp to one side, so the formation stays readable. It costs $551.95 for the geode alone. Stalactite formations occur in only a small fraction of geodes, and amethyst fades under long direct sunlight.
