A square is a harder decision than an oval. There is no softening at the edge, no place for the light to roll off — the stone simply stops where the setting says it stops.

Carved from natural striated crystal, this ring reveals its internal fissures, veils and mineral variations as it catches the light, set in a tall silver setting on a sterling silver band with an oxidized finish.

At a glance

  • Natural striated crystal quartz, carved with a squared face
  • Internal fissures, veils and mineral variation — unique to each stone
  • Tall setting in an oxidized silver finish
  • Sterling silver band
  • Nickel-free and hypoallergenic

How to use it

  • Let it be the only ring on the hand. A squared face reads as architecture and architecture needs space.
  • Turn it toward the light. The fissures shift as the angle changes — that movement is what you bought.
  • Off for manual work. Tall settings and squared corners find every snag available.
  • Quartz is traditionally associated with clarity — an association of long standing, worn as such.
  • Clean with a dry cloth only. Solvents get under the setting and stay there.

Oval Colossus or Square Goliath

Ring Face Reads as
Oval Colossus Oversized oval, tall setting, wide band Rounded, liquid, softer at the edge
Square Goliath Squared face, tall setting Architectural, blunt, harder-edged

✨ Temple Tip — square reads colder than oval, at identical size

Two rings, same stone, same setting height, and they land completely differently on a hand. The squared face has corners that catch light in hard lines and it reads architectural, deliberate, slightly severe. The oval is the same stone made friendly. Neither is better; they are aimed at different people.

The choker built on the same square setting is the Square Goliath Choker. Everything else for hands and ears is in Rings & Earrings.

Questions we get asked

Are the crystals natural?
Natural striated crystal quartz. The striations, veils and internal fractures are formed features of the stone, which is why no two pieces are identical — the photograph shows the character, not the exact specimen.
Are the internal veils a flaw?
No — they are formed features of striated quartz. They are the reason this material was chosen over glass.
How is it different from the Oval Colossus ring?
Identical material and construction. The Square Goliath has a squared face and reads architectural; the Oval Colossus is rounded and reads softer.
What sizes are available?
Size options appear on this page. If your size is not listed it is not currently in stock.
Will it scratch?
Quartz is hard and resists scratching well. The oxidized silver setting is the softer element and will show wear first.

Care & wear: Store dry and away from direct light. Keep away from perfume, hairspray, chlorine and household cleaners — plating and oxidized finishes are surface treatments and will wear with contact. Clean with a soft dry cloth only. Nickel-free and hypoallergenic as supplied by the maker. An adornment and a ritual object — no outcome is promised. Stone and crystal associations described here are traditions of association, not claims of physical or psychological effect, and nothing here is medical advice.

No soft edges, on purpose. #TempleOfDesire

In short

The Square Goliath Ring in Striated Crystal is a statement ring by mia vesper. Natural striated crystal quartz is carved with a squared face that reveals internal fissures, veils and mineral variation as it catches light, set tall in an oxidized finish on a sterling silver band. It is worn as the only ring on a hand and turned toward the light, since the squared face reads architectural where the oval version of the same stone reads softer. It costs $525 and is nickel-free and hypoallergenic. Quartz is traditionally associated with clarity, worn as such; the fissures are formed features rather than flaws, and the setting should be cleaned with a dry cloth because solvents collect underneath it.
