How to use it
Hand-rolled incense burns differently from stick incense. It wants a little more attention at the start and considerably less afterwards.
- Set a heatproof holder, dish or bowl of sand on a stable surface, away from anything that can catch.
- Light the tip and let the flame take hold for a few seconds longer than you would with a dipped stick.
- Blow it out. You want a steady ember, not a flame — if the ember dies, relight it, it is normal.
- Leave the room for two minutes, then come back. Tibetan incense is better met than watched.
- Let it burn down fully in the holder. Never leave burning incense unattended or within reach of children and pets.
