How to use it

  • Watch the color instead of setting a timer. Once you have seen what a correct steep looks like for a tea you drink often, you will stop needing to time it at all.
  • Give the leaves room. A pot this size wants leaf that can open fully; a crammed infuser basket is the most common reason home-brewed tea tastes flat.
  • Decant fully when the steep is done. Tea left sitting on its leaves keeps extracting and turns bitter — and glass shows you that before you taste it.
  • Reinfuse. Good leaf gives two or three steeps, and the second is often the best one.
  • Rinse with hot water rather than soap after each use, and run it through the dishwasher occasionally. Tea oils build a film that dulls the glass.

Heatproof is not the same as unbreakable. A pot taken straight from a cold cupboard and filled with boiling water is being asked to survive thermal shock. Warm it with a splash of hot water first, tip that out, then brew — it takes five seconds and the pot lasts years.

Is it really dishwasher safe?
Yes, and microwave safe too. A rinse with hot water after each use plus an occasional dishwasher cycle is the ideal routine; soap every time is unnecessary.
Will the handle get hot?
The handle is glass and does get warm. Use both hands when the pot is full.
Why glass rather than ceramic?
Because you can see what the tea is doing. Glass is also inert, so it contributes nothing to the flavor — a ceramic glaze or a metal infuser can.
What should I brew in it first?
