Boundless Belize was the first cacao Ora ever used ceremonially, and it still behaves like the reference point: expansive rather than sharp, the cup that widens a meditation instead of speeding it up.
Three hundred family farms of one to five acres grow it in the foothills of southern Belize, three quarters of them indigenous Q'eqchi' and Mopan Maya, in rainforest that covers unexcavated Mayan pyramids. The cacao carries an heirloom designation from the Heirloom Cacao Project and is produced by Maya Mountain Cacao, alongside a permaculture demonstration farm propagating heirloom seedlings.

How to use it
Weigh or chop 23 g — about 25 discs — and melt it into 6–8 oz of hot, not boiling, water. Boiling water scorches cacao and turns it bitter.
Whisk it properly. Thirty seconds with a hand frother or a small whisk is the difference between a smooth, emulsified cup and a gritty one. There is no sugar in the bag, so add honey, a pinch of salt or chili if you want — it needs none of them.
Start below the full serving for your first few cups and work upward. Cacao is best met gradually. The 1 oz single-serve boxes travel well and need no scale.
Which pure Ora origin is which
| Pure origin | Character | Reach for it when |
|---|---|---|
| Glowing Guatemala | Mothering, wise, loving | You want insight and inner work |
| Thriving Tanzania | Silky, clarifying, uplifting | You want focus and momentum |
| Boundless Belize | Expansive, expressive, magical | You want meditation and creativity |
| Connected Colombia | Soothing, earthy, steadying | You want to slow down and ground |
✨ Temple Tip
Sit with the cup before you drink it. Two minutes of holding a warm mug and doing nothing does more for a meditation than any amount of technique — and this is the cacao that rewards the pause.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from cocoa powder?
Cocoa powder has most of the cacao butter pressed out of it. Ceremonial cacao is the whole bean, minimally processed, with the fat left in — which is why it is prepared as a drink rather than stirred into baking.
What does heirloom designation mean?
The Heirloom Cacao Project identifies cacao populations of exceptional flavor and historic value and designates them for preservation. This cacao carries that designation.
Does it contain caffeine?
A small amount — roughly 30 mg per cup. The main stimulant in cacao is theobromine, at about 212 mg per cup, which most people find steadier than coffee.
Is there any sugar in it?
None. The ingredient list is organic cacao beans and nothing else.
How do I store it?
Cool, dark, dry and sealed. Cacao picks up other smells quickly, so keep it away from strong spices.
